Demoman is my favorite class, and I can say I've gotten respectably good in public server play with him. I've pretty much mastered how to use stickies, but I still suck at piping. Typically I don't even use them during a round. I read somebody's tip on here that I should use exclusively the 'nade launcher so I can improve my aim with it over time, but whenever I try that, I get owned. Are there any tips and strategies that you can outline for me to improve, or am I just stuck with getting owned for a while while practicing?
Edit: Wow, crap. Didn't see the other post based on this exact same thing. Sorry. Delete if you want.

1. Aim in front of where they're going
2. Use in combonation with stickies (use nades to lead them to stickies)
3. Surrond them with nades to hit them with splash damage
4. Occasionally aim them in unpredicted areas
5. Lead them (the enemy) to teamates and sentry guns
6. Againt Scouts, maybe just run
7. Against Heavy's, use their slow speed to your advatage (try having a protective wall)
8. Practice, it supposidly makes perfect
9. Welcome to the forums

It's mostly gonna be practice to get good at the aim of the pipe launcher. It's not really THAT hard, but anything over say like 30 or 40 "Feet" against a moving target is fairly impractical.
However, it can be good to just generally launch pipes in the direction of bad dudes when the distance means you'd have to charge up stickies a fair bit to get them there.

I dunno, I shoot pipes all the time all over the place...Over time, I find more and more areas / situations where there is a good chance to get a kill.

Pipes travel slower than rockets so they require more prediction/"leading".  I would say 1v1 someone until you start to get them down, then join a pub and practice hitting the other classes.  There really is no way around it, you're going to be annoyed at first until you figure out how much you have to lead the darn things.   Scouts are going to be the worst things in the world at first.  Luckily most people you see playing scout in pubs are very predictable and don't change direction enough to throw your aiming off.

The tr-maps can help.  Learning how to airshot stuff with pipes will help you with pipe aiming in general.  If you're going to main in Demo you will probably want to practice arishotting anyways.

Try use pipes as your main weapon, and only use stickies when out of ammo, or to take out sentries. Doing this has made me a whole lot better with pipes.

Nade launcher rocks.

As far as Heavy, I don't play it, so I could be wrong, but I would venture that a Demo who is good w/ nades is one of the Heavies worst fears.

All the time I completely own Heavies with dancing around and direct pipe hits.  Halfway through a round, the Heavies are a little more careful around the Demo.

Even if you run into an unrevved Heavy in a hallway, you can blow his ass up with nades before he has a chance to rev up.

Typically I will have nades out when moving ahead, or in tunnels, or hallways.  And, when I get into the open, or in fighting position will typically switch to mines.  Unless the situation dictates nades.

1. Nades are the slowest weapon in the game.
2. the bouncing is unpredictable.
3. Rolling when on the ground is unpredictable.
4. They are good to use on retreating enemies.
5. They can still hit even if they miss the first time.
6. They can be dodged easly by anyone that pays attention.
7. They arc so you can shoot around corners but have a short distance they will go.
8.  Airshotting with them is the hardest thing in the game to pull off.

Are we all positive that rockets are faster than nades?

'Cause i'm pretty good with the air blaster, and at medium ranges I'm usually untouchable  by rockets.  But when I'm up against a demo, I blast too late and get naded.  They seem faster.
