Hey everybody, to cut to the chase I'm starting a new series of Spy videos for beginner to intermediates. I'll be recording runs and giving out comments and advice on the situations that present themselves. I hope most find it somewhat informative and entertaining.

Uncle Jemima's Spy Adventure 1 - Dustbowl
Uncle Jemima's Spy Adventure 2 - Pipeline (Part 1)

Uncle Jemima's Spy Adventure 2 - Pipeline (Part 2)

Edit: My Spy Adventures YouTube Playlist will now contain all videos henceforth.

The link isn't in HD (since I know a lot of people don't like it) but it's there if your internet/computer can handle it. Comment/rate if you like/dislike, or give me your impressions here on the forums. Thanks!

Here's my Steam ID page, in case anyone wants to friend me.

NEW THREAD HERE.

I suppose, being the asshole I am, I'll go first.

Firstly, before even watching the video, you only have 114 hours as Spy, as your most played class, in combination that your first video is on dustbowl, makes it easy to conclude you probably don't know enough about the game or spy to be really that good at teaching anything.

Looking at the video, it was confirmed that the people you play with are fairly terrible, which obviously means the best you can do is become an expert spy at killing bad players.

If you agree to any of the following statements, you are not ready to teach anything:

Dustbowl is a good map.
Hydro is a good map.
CTF in this game is good.
Crits are fair.

Basically, you need more experience. Go find tough servers, it's the only way to improve. Most CEVO players can spy just as good, if not better, at lower hours as spy simply because they have hundreds of hours as other classes. You need experience to be good, and therefore to teach well.

Lastly, even if you had been expert and a amazingly good, these videos do nothing. If Chro ever gets here, you'll here it again. Videos used to be bad because they took the creativity out of the class, and you became a cookie-cutter spy, just the same as everyone else. I was never taught anything and I think most here will agree I did pretty good.

Now I think the videos simply aren't required. Spy no longer has anything hard about it, all you need is experience and you can't mess up. So the only people that will benefit from this video are players that need to not be getting told what to do, but going out and learning themselves.

Anyway, good editing.

I don't understand how people can play like this without looking around. It was kinda painful to watch. Upload cool spy moments if you have them, but don't make a guide, imo.

I agree with gman, cept on 2 points in defense of D3pyroGS:

1. 114 hours is a shitload of gametime. Perhaps its a different matter for spy, but I've just recently hit 100 hours for my main, and yet I've been tearing it up as a scout for most of that hundred hours. Experience comes from experiences, and if you can gain that in 100 hours, so be it. Massive amounts of time played is great, but mostly just for bragging or 1up rights.

2. Gameplay analysis videos don't make the editor a cookie - it makes the people who choose to use the videos cookies. The editor is showcasing his own style, while the viewers try to fit that mould.

Other than that, gman is spot on. If you are going to make more videos however, make them out of footage from ranked matches. Pubs aren't good for anything 'cept beating up on the little guys.

Oops. The double negatives threw me off, I changed them to remove that.

We agree on 2, maybe I said it strangely but what I meant was that people who play learning off of videos are just dumbed down players that copy what they see, and don't think for themselves.

As for 1, 100 hours of just game time is nothing. Unless you were a more than average player in a multitude of other FPS's (lots of CEVO playders are also great Quake players, for example), than there is still tons to learn, especially if your only time is from pubs.

Take DL for example, now that's a shit load of time, but 100 is puny.
