(sorry about the title, made it sound like a newspaper)

Please note this only works with the shotgun.

I have noticed that with the recent demo nerf, the comp blast is just a bit less useful. I noticed that before this nerf i would not use the backburner because I had no efficient way to clear sticky traps. Shooting hardly even moved them.

But now when trying for an ambush I just shoot the stickies and get prepared for my back crits! The only downside to this method is that by destroying them you alert the demoman.

Not really. AB is never the primary solution to sticky traps anyway. The AB should be used to DM soldiers and piping demos, and to facilitate the puff and sting.

1) The Backburner has always been useful in the right hands/situation and remains so.

2) You can do a lot else with the airblast besides moving stickies.

3) Moving stickies with the airblast is much more efficient than shooting them one by one.

Make of that what you will.

Airblast is still a heck of a powerful defense against soldiers and demos. I would not want to trade it in for back crits.

I have to agree with this.  In a public match backburner is 100% viable.
In a coordinated match the class itself becomes less viable.

Agreed. I haven't been in many situations where I have had the flamethrower and wished I had the backburner. I have been in a lot of situations where I had the backburner and wished I had the flamethrower though. Most of the time if I catch them off guard they are dead anyway. The biggest use of the backburner for me is on control points you can sneak up on and kill all 4-5 people with a quick stream of crits. The backburner has its place, I'd just rather have utility if I need it. With the backburner you can deal damage...and thats it.

The backburner...in a polite way, I dislike it. If there was health involved, I would be more keen to use it, but just crits from behind? Sorry, I can't give up the AB just for that. Also, if you AB well, you can fight against sticky demomen, it just involves a highly arched AB. As for a coordinated match, Me + Chad = rapage. I myself dislike the BB, but when paired with someone who does use one, it's an epic time.

Im a big circle- strafer, from playing goldeneye and perfect dark. Back crits are natural for me, and it helps me take out most other pyros. Not saying its the only way to go, but some people will make more use of it than others.

What i meant was before this recent nerf, the AB made it easier to ambush, but the BB rewarded those who ambushed. Caught somewhat in a dilema.
