NullName problem

Whenever i see a players' name as NullName come up, i get lagged for about 3-5 seconds. Ive finally narrowed it down to this. anyone else have this problem?
my ports are open, ive decreased video settings but this game should work fine on my system as most games do.
X800 pro 256, 2gb ddr, 3300+ Sempron amd.

Try refreshing Steam. Restart it, or restart PC. And did you minimize while in-game?

i reinstalled steam, but maybe ill delete and redownload the game... no to the minimize thing as it happens everytime i run it.

nope NULLNAME still shows up... and I lag when i see it. but after the reinstall it shows up a little less frequently...

hope they can come up with a fix for this... after the freeze, I hit tab and all names are NULLNAME. It freezes whenever it shows a NULLNAME killed NULLNAME. Sometimes after a freeze, with sound skipping, i see my dead body in front of me. Ive even tried the -directx 81 loading...

Damn, those guys at Valve better come back quickly to fix all these bugs.

That's pretty lame...I wonder if you reset your Internet it will be more of a Refresh. Try that. Unplug your Modem/Router power cord, your Ethernet cord and restart your PC. When you sign-in into your Windows account, plug everything back in.

nullname shows up when you lag, not the other way around. i get this every now and then, and it's related to you lagging. i guess your connection isn't finding the name server through steam community, which is what it uses now. so, look at your internet connection.

also try upping your rates. in your console, type:
cl_cmdrate 101
cl_updaterate 101
rate 25000

try that

hmm helps somewhat... but still get major lag and nullname errors, as well as performance warnings in the console.

i have tried a few video card drivers, and the errors seem to be a little less often now with the current one. and reducing fps max with the max_fps command in console to your highest.
