Just started playing as Demoman alot recently Im up near 23 hours and Its fairly obvious how to be a successful defensive demoman but I am having some trouble pushing enemies back. I was wondering if anyone here can post some of their tips for playing a strong offensive demoman. My aim with the Pipe Bomb is pretty decent, hitting scouts and pyro's gets tricky for me but soldiers and heavies are easy enough.....stickies seem to be my downfall on offense, I dont quite know how to throw them and angle them to cause major havoc.
Any Ideas?

i'm new as well. Over 10 hours playing. I find offensive attacks kinda easer. Best bet is just learning the maps, you can learn that hitting off certain walls will get to certain places and you won't even need to see them. 2fort is the best map for demoman i think. defense is easy and offense is just as easy. Only problems will be pryos in the corridors. I normally avoid stickies for the offense, they're best left for defense or moving back.

c/s practice makes perfect, learn the map well, learn the bottle-necks, but most of all, when on offense, always anticipate your opponents move... aim a bomb where you think the enemy will retreat or hide to. Stickies are as important, if not more than your regular pipe bombs... you can obviously set traps and take out hard to reach sentries, but laying out a bunch of stickies where the enemy can see, while be a very effective deterrent. It's a temporary front-line, if you will.

I use stickies much more than pipe bombs when playing offense. I don't know, I just find myself doing far more damage with them. The only times I use pipe bombs is when I need explosives fast or if I have stickies planted somewhere else for safekeeping.
So yah, I say practice using the sticky bombs.

The key really is in the stickies. Keep dodging left and right, especially in and out of cover while firing stickies. Fire two/three depending on the enemy a bit short of where they are now, and blow it up when they charge and walk over them. The stickies have a rather high arc so you probably need to aim shorter than you are now. Also, pipe bombs aren't the best weapons for face to face fighting, but they are tremendously useful for just slinging into corners and hard to get to places. As just about every other class I dread pipe bombs, because even if you're a few feet from them they will almost always hit you and knock off 50 or 100 HP. Whenever you see a group of enemies, a narrow gap through which they are pouring, or a downhill slope that will roll the grenades right into their face, fire off a round of pipe bombs.

Whenever I'm on the move I ALWAYS have the Pipe Bombs out, because if you run around a corner or anything along those lines, and run into someone you're going to lose if you have your Stickies out. With the Pipes you can jump back and blast them in the face. But, my primary is the Sticky Gun.
As a previous poster said, learn to anticipate people. And don't blow your load too early. If you think the enemy will back up, throw one behind him. If he sees this then moves forward throw one in front of him, now he is boxed in and as soon as he walks onto one, BOOM. By this time you'll of course have more stickies out too. Practice makes perfect, no joke. Keep playing and you will get scags better.
If anything, request tips from Octon or Helter, they are amazing. Possibly spectate them if possible. Stickies should be your main, but everyone please stop underestimating the pipe bombs. They do ridiculous damage. And they have a predictable arc and with enough practice you can aim them extremely well.

The pipebomb is my standard weapon and I find its most useful offensive capacity to be taking out sentries. You can find a nice sniper haunt, make sure there's no laser sights on nearby walls and scrapheap SG's with impunity. I typically avoid close fights and push my offense from a bit of a distance. Also, remember that stickies aren't just crouch jump weapons... ..set one on the wall behind you use it to propel you forward with tremendous speed. You can get past the enemies front line and attack them from the rear. Just make sure your push yourself close to some health. I have found that the combination of speed and damage make the demoman maybe the most effective at breaking through an entrenched enemy. You can hit them when they can't hit you so you get a head start, scatter their formation and dish out a lot of pain. Freeeeeedommmm!!!!!!!!!

Knowing the maps is the best. Most importantly know the common sentry gun spots so you can destroy them allowing your team to advance faster.
Also it's not too tough to take out defending snipers with a fully charged up sticky ready to launch towards him. It takes practice to figure out what angle to launch them at to make them soar right where you want em.

As a couple of people have said, the use of stickies effectively is the way to get better at the class. You need to try learn the time till detonation, and blow the stickies as soon as possible in a straight up fight. Most sentries should be pretty easy prey for you once you get the hang of things aswwell.

When I use Demo I try not to limit him to Offense or Defense... I dont like to think that way. It always seems to limit my gameplay. What I try to do is limit the other teams flexability, if the other team seems to be constantly on top of us then I search and destroy any hardware in the area. Then I push to thier side of the base and try to limit spawning, keep them pinned in so as to allow my team to capture points. I focus alot of my attention on Engineers. I use sticky bombs from odd angles to destroy small cities. When you attack like this you have to make sure that you put a couple of stickies, no more than two, in front of you. This is because almost every Engineer that I have come in contact with rushes me when they see the first sticky drop in thier city. Now if the Engineer strafes and uses the shotgun, then you have to resort to falling back and trying a different angle, or sport the pipe bombs and rain hell on him. When it comes to the ever annoying Scout, I usually fall straight back and allow him to run on top of me and use the bottle on him, thats if he doesnt scatter me all over the place. Pyros are a bit tougher, they run in circles and flame me, I usually just sticky straight down and run away and detonate hopefully catching him, otherwise I just rinse and repeat.
One other thing that alot of players forget, is to remember to hold the trigger down on the sticky gun, charging it up and launching that sticky accross the map. I have gotten good enough to place these with almost pinpoint accuracy.
