Perfectly reasonable Spy solutions

There are a few problems, at least in my eyes, with the spy.

Here are my solutions to them:

The cloak meter: As many people have pointed out, a Spy should have his cloak meter completely refilled when you use the respawn locker. I see no reason why this shouldn't be, and it seems like it would be easy to implement.
-Picking up fallen weapons, ammo boxes, etc. should refill you cloak meter by a small bit each. Like getting a large ammo box should refill it a third or halfway, and getting a small ammo box should give you about an eight of the meter. Standing next to a friendly dispenser should also give your cloak recharge rate a bit of a boost, something like 1.25 times faster than normal. Not much, but something.

Shimmers: There should be a much more noticeable indicator for when your cloak shimmers. I see no reason against this. I've had many cases where an enemy saw my cloak shimmer and I didn't even now it had: on my screen, he didn't touch me. It should be something along the lines of your cloak arm should show the same effect on your screen as an enemy would see on his screen. There would be no difference on what the enemy sees, only what you see.


Thoughts? Suggestions?

I have no doubts whatsoever that the cloak will be able to be ressuplied at the cabinet with the Spy update. Fallen weapons, perhaps, although I think it could be a bit overpowered. Being able to run across the entire battlefield cloaked.

Shimmer sounds like a good idea, I don't really know though because I can tell most of the time if I have hit an enemy.

I too would like to see my shimmer on my view model.

However it's already been discussed bigtime about the ammo filling cloak, and it's a no, it just doesn't make sense. But I see no reason why his cloak cannot by a locker. But ammo, etc...no.

I think some more drastic changes are needed to balance it. It's a fine line between making good spies unstoppable and making decent spies a little more effective.

Pretty much, the most reasonable changes I've seen for the Spy are:
1. No lift animation
2. Speed 107% (Medic Speed)
3. Cloak meter doesn't decrease when still

What about the one idea proposed on the fake Spy update page from a while back that suggested holding left-click to prime the stab and you release it to unleash an instant stab w/ no animation. It doesn't speed up or overpower the stab in anyway really; although it does dumb it down considerably in one sense.

1.Even though the lift animation is as annoying as say, a small yappy dog on speed biting my genitalia, do we really want it removed? It could turn mediocre spies into decent players, and decent players into GODLY spies. Perhaps it's the only thing holding spies back.
However it is rather stupid that a game mechanic is stopping players from being too good, rather then say, balance.

2.Speed definitely needs an increase. Nothing more annoying than running across the map after a pyro or demo, only to have him turn around just as you stab.

3.Just like Crysis. I don't think it should not decrease, it should just decrease very slowly.

I don't want the lift animation gone, just quickened.

The speed of the Spy does not need an increase. Cutting corners and making every step efficient to catch up to a target is what makes good Spies good.

Less facestabs, more registered backstabs.

Cloak needs to recharge quicker, as long as it takes for a fully empty Demoman to reload. There should be a thing where if the Spy fully depletes his cloak, there is a penalty in recharge speed.

its super dumb that it is quicker to die and respawn then to have you cloak fully recharge, so i definitly say that being refilled by resupply is good. i also like the dispenser idea, although i think 1.5 x would be better. maybe medics resuplly cloak? not sure about that but it might be good, if you make it back to your side of the battle you should be able to recharge faster.

No, I already said it's been really discussed (later in the thread). It doesn't make sense for somebody that HEALS to refill cloak. That only leaves ammo, and that belongs to engineers and weapon supply.
