So I know that you can put a ragdoll do be a dead body or something, but how do you tell hammer where and how you want that body placed? I can easily place a body just lying on the floor, but what if I want on arm to be laying on a couch? What if I want his head bent a certain way or inside a microwave? How do I do that?

You miiiiight be able to put one partway through an animation and place it at a specific frame in that animation. Models can't be posed in hammer like they can in Garry's Mod, at least as far as I know. But if you specify an animation for the model, you can select a single frame of the animation, thus posing the character in that way.

That's all I can say on the subject, but maybe one of the more NINJA mappers like Lou could help you.

For goodness sake it's in the mapping section. Why is everyone so confused?

I'm pretty sure most people just go to "Latest posts" so thats why you might see random posts in here..

I think you have to actually extract the models using something like Milkshape and then use that program to model them in custom poses.  Fishy or Big Lou would know more about it though as they have actually done some of the model making for their maps.

Moving their limbs in milkshape to make individual models...

crap. I have milkshape and I can make custom models, but when it gets to actually turning them into dynamic props I'm lost. Lost, lost, lost.

And a lot of the tutorials don't help much because they speak languages that I don't understand, like that cryptic language of C++.

I really want someone to describe it to me in laymans terms, but most people assume I know a bit of programming.

So if anybody here could explain it like they were explaining it to a 5 year old on how to make dynamic props, that would be super.
