Pyro girl/boy poll... voting... thing!

the rules are simple.

my vote is that you will never really know. It will be the perpetual inside toke in the TF2 universe.

But if I had to vote one way or the other, I would have to say girl.

Well.... The Pyro was a boy, but he felt that he never really felt in, he was too soft, not as tough as the other boys, so he got sex change surgery, then he felt that he was too soft to fit in with the girls too, that's when the Pyro's parents realized that he/she/it was really GELATINOUS OOZE and they gave him a flame retardent suit to cover up his GELATINOUS OOZYNESS then the Heavy appeared, with his comical ways of calling the other team babies and falling in love with sandwiches, and all was well in the TF universe.

Well, someone I've spoken to at Valve says that it's "not very likely" that they would ever reveal the Pyro's gender.  Having said that... the Pyro *is* a female.  The way I know is that they messed up a blog post one day that referred to Pyro as a "her", then quickly edited it.  To me, this proves without a shadow of a doubt that their INTENTION is for Pyro to be female.

This is probably the smartest move since the mystique of the character is one of the biggest assets in defining its personality (since it lacks a real voice or gender.)

Also, as soon as you let the proverbial "cat out of the bag", you take way too much away from the character.  Like when they finally revealed Wolverine's origin in the comics... he was never the same and became "generic bladed killing machine #30930-A".  Taking away the mystery was just like revealing the secret to a magic trick.

There's all this interest in how it's done... and as soon as the secret's revealed, there is no longer this "apple" to dangle - interest wains - and shortly after, no one could care less.
