Pyros should be defence?

I don't know about anyone else but I find I play Pyro, and am much more effective with Pyro, on defence rather than offence.
The Pyro is an ambush class, ambushing has only limited use when attacking, whereas when your defending you can stop the whole enemy force in its tracks with a torrent of flame from above.

I know that its very neat with 3 classes in each section, but don't you think Pyro should be in defence?

With good tactics Pyro really could be offensive. IMO of course. But I noticed if combined with medic and uber they are fast and pretty much offensive. With my friends we like to use pyro+medic combos especially on dustbowl.
Anyway ask Rizzilio.

On a map like dustbowl, RND 2, the benefits are obvious when having a pyro on defense. The only thing that can take down the sentries are an uber and spies(usually not demo, but I dunno). The pyro is great for elminating spies and is good for clearing the point after an uber run. I would however usually prefer to have pyros play offense because of their great uber potential, and because they are great at weakening and making the enemy scour with flames.

Pyros are effective when you have no idea what the opposing pyro is doing. Although they can surprise opponents both on offense and defense, i think it works better on offense.

What do you expect more? To be attacked at the enemy's cp or intelligence, or at your own spawn?

I agree. Heavy and Pyro should be switched.

NEGATIVE. You're about to start a whole different conversation. Heavy is defensive whether he's defending the point/intel or the other players on his team. That being said all classes can be played offensively.

The pyro is the number one defense versus spies, I think most can agree on that but offensive pyros that know what they are doing are more valuable than flame spamming for spies. Spies can be taken care of with communication, letting the pyro do his job of delaying enemy attacks. Theres not really any other class that can take out a whole group of enemies or at least send them running back and breaking their cordination. Get up behind a medic thats about to uber rush out and either kill him or make him pop his uber way to early. You are most likely going to die for touching their medic but you help your team out in the bigger picture.

The bottom line is your decision to play defense or offense should be based on your skill with the class. Not saying that defense takes less skill BUT it is safer and you will probably do more for your team instead of going out and getting killed all the time.

sorry if this kinda rambles, it's a rough morning......: )

How many heavies do you see defending the intel?

How many heavies do you see getting ubered to take the closest CP?

I stand by my point.
The fact that the pyro is good on offense and the heavy is good on defense doesn't mean that's how people play them.

Depends on the situation really.  I play Pyro as both defensive and offensive and its all about the current situation and/or map. Fort is a perfect example as you can patrol your own base roasting spies and scouts who have gone for the intel or tried to take out internal defenses (sentry guns etc).  The other idea is to charge over with others and hold up the opposing team and give your own spies time to take out the internal sgs or enemies who could stop you.  The Pyro is a great charge stopper and by flaming a medic who is charged is a great way to make them waste and uber.  Personally I see Pyros as an offensive class, not in the same way as the Soilder but still offensive.

I know and you have a good point, but I don't think they should be switched. I do also see just as many heavies guarding the point as I see attacking them.

Flag rooms are generally empty anyways because of how out of the action it is. However, a heavy guarding the flag room when it's time to be guarded is a solid defense and is usually only vulnerable to a spy behind him.

Heavies are not the ideal uber, take the point class. Just because alot of people like to doesn't make it the best way.
