Newegg currently has a 74GB (perfect for OS drive) Raptor drive for $60 after rebate.  It also has free shipping.  I know there are a lot of people looking to upgrade or build new, and this could be a nice addition.

I'm assuming this thing is reaaaally fast? Also when you say "perfect for OS drive" do you mean OS and programs? Or just the OS alone?

standard desktop hard drives are 7200 rpm, while the Raptor drives are 10000 rpm. People like to use these as boot drives to minimize your boot time into windows(or whatever your OS), and then have a large data drive to store the programs on. There's no problem storing programs on this drive, but it would be small for most people's purposes.

Yes, it would be perfect for OS + speed requiring aps (Steam for Games).  Since it's only 74GB, I wouldn't install EVERY application onto it.  I have a 160GB Raptor and have the liberty to do so, but I will say it's not necessary for a lot of apps.

If you have Steam on a Raptor, you can almost guarantee you will be the first person in the server upon map load.  I am.

Just a side note.... you can actually tell windows boot with multiple cores as well (2 or 4 depending on your cpu and what you want).. really speeds up boot time if you are into that kind of thing.

@Big Lou - ditto.. I have a 300GB Velociraptor for my system/multiple apps... makes loading certain applications seem instant

weird you say 70GB is too small, but i have a single 70GB hard drive and i have 24GB of free space currently
(with 20GB worth of games in the steam folder/Oblivion installed/other stuff)
i guess i just need that much space? nice deal anyways.

P.S.

This is the same drive that Kwogger gave me... which was DOA... which was replaced free by WD... and they no longer had the 74GB at the factory... so they upgraded me to the 160GB Raptor instead.
