To answer Cypher's question, you did actually WATCH the news during the elections right? The woman knows nothing about politics, next to nothing about history, and almost nothing about geography.
From what I've read about her term as Governor, she's a hawk who places a massively high priority on
limiting government spending. She doesn't rub a lot of people the right way, even in her own party ... and as a fiscal conservative, someone who pisses in the grits of big government spenders (Democrat AND Republican) is exactly the kind of person I want in the White House.
As for the oft-repeated mantra that she's so overwhelmingly stupid ... I have to call bullshit. Not every statesman is going to be smooth and elegant when placed in a national spotlight (even the very charismatic Obama flubbed that he'd visited 57 states, not counting Alaska and Hawaii while on the campaign trail,
nobody's perfect.) If she were so stupid, why is it that she was able to finish a BA, and win two terms as a city mayor before moving on to winning the highest executive office in her state ... are the majority of voting Alaskans as incredibly stupid as she is? It's interesting to note that AK is a heavily Republican state, is holding small government, low-taxation aligned conservative values indicative of low intelligence? I'm not a huge fan of her religious values, I don't take a hard line view of abortion (if pressed I would side pro choice), but I can respect the views of people I don't agree with, even on the other side of the isle.
I have very serious problems with Obama ... yet I don't go railing on about him being some kind of closet Muslim or his birth certificate or any other of that ignorant bullshit. Do I think that he might be selling out his responsibility to the people he's supposed to be serving in exchange for political power? It's possible, but I don't know what's going on in his head or in his office. The only things I have to go on are his political actions in office, and as much as I feel about the man one way or another, the most I can do to intelligently aid the debate concerning the course of this country is to respectfully oppose him on the issues ... because going on a racist or similarly ignorant screed about him being a terrorist or not a citizen is NOT going to give me any credibility or contribute anything productive to the great political debate.
You don't have to listen to me, and you sure as hell don't have to agree with me ... but please, if you keep it to the issues and facts, I might just be able to engage you intellecutally with some intrest and respect, rather than thinking of you guys as ignorant fucktards.
