I'm not a fan of Palin, but for real, it doesn't matter if she's dumb or smart or what have you. If the people of Alaska liked her enough to elect her, then great, they got what they wanted.

This will be the only time I post about politics in these forums. To run for president, you need a few things.

1) Power, money, and influence.

2) A platform.

3) A connection with the american people.

Sarah Palin arguably has only 2 of these things. It's sad, but most people do not hold Alaska with any regard. And who can really blame them? Alaska has a population of less than 1 million people. When you consider that these people are spread out over just as many square miles, it can be hard to see how Alaska can be indicative as a whole to the rest of the nation. The majority of the world lives in cities now, and "small town america" is quickly becoming the minority.

The vast majority of Alaskans are Christians. All of the other religions of the world, and of America, have very little representation in Alaska. The simple fact is that Alaska is nothing like the rest of the states. Considering that Sarah Palin only has experience governing people who have very different needs and values than the rest of america, it can be hard to argue that she should represent the nation as a whole.

even though i don't agree with her politics, i'll say this. if the people of Alaska voted for her, then she, not matter her IQ, should be governer. i just have a problem with her quitting it early so she can go for somethign bigger.

no one belives she's actually quit politics.

polls show shes only 1% behind Mike Huckabee to be the GOP's candidate 2012. McCain won the nomination with less of a chance than that.

Less than a million is an understatement, Alaska has about 660,000 people. Must of us either live in or near cities as big (or much bigger), and I dare say most of the mayors of these cities would hardly be qualified for the White House. Riley is right...outside of AK, she is a nobody. She has a strong connection with the religious right (which is a substantial portion of the country) who will vote for WHOEVER REPRESENTS THEIR PLATFORM long before they'd vote for "the other" guy, regardless of how much they know about politics or are qualified for the job. I'm not bashing anyone, it's just human nature for most people to do this.

The fact that she is only 1% behind Huckabee is surprising, but I think it's a good indication of just how much work the Republican party has to do to repair themselves if Palin is the best they can come up with. I would like to hear 3 good reasons as to WHY she would be qualified...any takers?

You're stupid.

There is no evidence that the universe may be 6000 years old, but there is plenty of evidence supporting that it's much older.

Likewise, there is no evidence we were poofed into existence, but there is substantial evidence supporting we evolved. Evolution isn't a "believe", it's science, and well used and thought-out at that.

I hate reading politics threads that turn into religious shout offs. More of the usual "You're an idiot because you believe in (x)" "I'm not an idiot because I believe in (x) you're an idiot because you can't face the facts of (x)."

Seriously

It was neat and all how this thread was completely a flame towards an individual who I don't particularly like, but now just going on and on about intelligence in regards to religion and everything. It's rather sickening.

Stop with the 4th grade arguments of "You're stupid" and put up some facts. :<

There is no evidence for evolution. At all. There is a lot of theory and conjecture, but no evidence. Evolution is actually more faith based then religion, as it is supposedly based on fact but has no tangible proof while religion makes it's clams solely on faith.

But while I could go into depth on this subject, it is completely off topic. If a new thread was started, I'd be glad to continue there. Even though I believe it would turn into flaming three posts in, as most 'serious' topics do.
