A lot of people (including myself) despise Sentry guns while playing as Scout. They are the main reason I dont play more Scout. do you guys think this is really annying?

my idea, a replacement for the Pistol. some sort of vest to lower the damage taken, but have some sort of downside (aside from not getting a Pistol) to make it so he isn't good at destoying guns, but he could actually survive

Why? The sentry is the counter to the scout....and that's basically all it counters. It's used to PREVENT scouts from just getting by everything, and this change is would screw class balance and make engineers almost worthless.

I play a good amount of scout, and I too find them annoying. However, it is a necessary weakness, its probably the one thing a scout cant take out, and being a team based game you should be able to rely on your teammates to cover your class' shortcomings. Every class has its strengths and weaknesses, and one of the scouts weaknesses is its inability to take out sentries. And there are still a few ways to deal with sentries, one of which is you can take them out with a few pistol clips from outside the sentry's range. Another way to deal with them is to peek around a corner just enough to see a part of the gun, but not far out enough to have it target you and shoot at it. Neither of these work against a sentry defended by an engy or one of his teammates however, because the engy can heal the gun faster than you can damage it, and you cant shoot at the gun when an enemy is nearby that can spot and kill you while you are focused on the gun. hope that helps

The Main problem I have is Sentry Nests. For example, Dustbowl Stage 3, pt. 2, I cant do jack shit as a BLU Scout. It's these occasions that annoy me.

Here's a really easy way to get rid of that.

1. Click ,
2. Switch to Demoman
3. Find a medic
4. Spend 20 seconds building up an uber
5. Have your medic right click
6. ???
7. PROFIT.

well, you shouldn't need to become a different class to come over with your weaknesses. that would be like a Engie switching to Pyro in order to Spy check. I think the Scout could use some kind of improvement, but hey, just my opinion.

I can't see why anyone would play Scout on an A/D map. It's just designed to fail.

Its not your fault as a scout if your team cant take our a sentry nest. Maybe you should switch classes to a demoman or a medic to fix the problem, or just make protect your medics long enough for them to get an uber up.

But see, an engi can spy check, just not as effectively as a pyro. This is the same with the scout. He can take down sentries, just not as effectively as a demo. So if you want him to overcome his weakness completely, you're going to need to switch classes, or rely on your team to help you.

Uber scout!

But yeah, it's really the maps' fault because they're so tight. The real reason scouts do good on open maps like badwater and gravel pit is because they can breathe without being picked off by sentries.
