"its glandular"... I've been working on an idea, what if you use a heavy like a scout.... So what if he's kind of slow and ugly the gun and health make up for it and who's gunna make fun of him with that gun pointed at them. I've been trying this out lately with some surprising success. this is the reason i believe it works:

1) who expects a heavy anywhere but the the front line?

2) as long as you keep a close eye on your big ass you shouldn't be ambushed since most classes shy away from you

3) you will dominate in all one on one battles as long as its up close...so you do have to avoid crossing large open areas

4) the way scouts work is that you have to run to get health alot hence the usefulness of uberspeed but since your a heavy you don't need health as often so you can meander and still survive.

*discuss*

ps: you do not use a medic for this...you must shoo them away, they draw too much attention with their stupid white coat and ridiculous accents...plus, they should be healing someone who needs it since you shouldn't take much damage if your doing this right

What? I see too many problems with this.

1) I see a heavy. 2 seconds later, i see his dead body on the floor in front of me with a knife in his back and nobody was even around to witness his death.
2) The heavy takes a few seconds to start shooting, hence no hit and run.
3) The heavy can't cap as fast.
4) The heavy is slow and cannot jump high.
5) The heavy is a heavy. Do what he's meant to do.

Yeah I can see the rouge Heavy being stabbed repeatedly as soon as their team catches on to these shinanigans.  Their Spy would be drooling at the lonely Heavy and the ensuing free kill.  Plus the Heavy would have to camp by an ammo box since his ammo can be depleted very quickly (like the scouts lack of health for speed)

I mean if you want to just dick around and goof off, then yeah - go for it, but I would save that for the Pubs.

This is actually how i play, with the medic of course. I rather push forward, than have to stoop to lowly defense.

The heavy NEEDS his medic (or a med pack near his feet, and this doesn't ensure the heavy's survival) to live for any decent amount of time or to do decent damage.
A heavy can be killed with just about any player that can use a corner, you pop out shoot duck back and the heavys reaction time in real life wouldn't be fast enough to get much damage done in the split second. If the just starts emptying his ammo at the corner he has some 20 seconds to do so before forced to his shotgun, then he's gibded.

I feel i need to address these points

1) obviously a spy s a concern but when you play super paranoid it makes it a lot harder on a spy, and i mean back to the wall all the time and such
2) this is not a hit from the front, this is flanks and from behind, as in they know your there because your already shooting them
3) this is not for capping, this is like a defensive scout (and yes there is such a thing)
4) its not all about jumping high with scouts or their speed, its about getting the edge by shooting first (unless on offense but thats not what the fat scout is meant for)
5) "no william hung your not suppose to sing, your suppose to do calculus and make finger traps"....we all have dreams

overall, this does not work on all maps but the ones where the defensive scout reigns so shall the obese...i mean come on, if you threw a hat on that guy he would totally look like a scout

as for the rest of you non believers

200 ammo will last for quite a few kills if your not spamming it at random people...the medic is a crutch for the weak, though awesome in there own respect, 300 health is more than enough since you get the first shot. they should be dead before they get too many hits on you... and last, for those damn snipers who are only in it for the points, if im trying to get the drop on people, why would i EVER be in the open?

how are heavies supposed to get their slow asses behind the lines?  The whole point of the scout is that they can avoid, heavies can barely move while shooting so they get bombarded by rockets/stickies/nades.  Also heavies tend to draw way more attention while shooting their minigun while scouts don't.  Once the heavy starts moving past the enemy, they will get shot like crazy.  Once he's injured he can't run for health because EVERY class in the game is faster then him.
