I have recently been trying to play TF2 everyday for about a week now.  I start up the game, everything loads fine, click on find servers and filter out full rooms etc. etc..  List quickly fills like always and then every server I try to connect to says server not responding.  I have searched everywhere and can not get a straight answer.  I have played TF2 fine with no problems for about 6 months now.  The most recent things I have done to my computer is in the same day, I upgraded my computer to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit and I bought a Wireless Netgear router. I figure it has something to do with my router but I know nothing of forwarding ports and such if thats what I need to do.  After that my TF2 will not connect to any server.  If anyone can help it would be GREATLY appreciated. Heres my comp specs if you need them.

Your not supposed to use a wireless router wtih TF2. I suggest you get rid of it and go back to your original internet connection.

I have never heard this before, and it sounds like utter rubbish to me. In fact, that is almost definitely what that is - tosh.

Have you got the correct ports forwarded?

What difference would having a router make? If you have the right ports forwarded it will act no different to TF2.

And sorry about sounding so hostile, it wasn't intended.

You typically want to use a wired connection for gaming (network, mouse, keyboard) due to reliability and lower latency, but that definitely isn't the issue here.

You don't really have to forward ports for game clients as NAT handles that pretty well. Port forwarding is more of a game server thing.

So, can you connect to a server WITHOUT refreshing the game list?
Try adding one of our servers to your favourites, and make sure there arent more than 10 servers in your favourites. Try playing.
If you can connect this way, then I would assume the problem to be related to the fact that you computer can only handle a finite amount of connections and that they are all being used when you start refreshing servers.

I used to get this and for me,i found it only happened on servers with high latency.
Also, turning off my firewall (zonealarm for me) helped
