Shotgun unlock possibility

I don't have a name, I just wanted to put an idea out there.

What about some kind of electrically powered shotgun- http://i84.servimg.com/u/f84/14/14/74/96/hellga10.jpg

When you have it equipped all your buildings are constructed with small arials or transmitters that send power to your weapon. Whenever your are within a certain distance of one of your unsapped buildings, this shotgun has more power than your regular model. How much power, again, not sure.


This is a sidegrade in that if a spy saps your buildings you're pressured more into using your wrench to end him, and when your buildings are destroyed you have a sub par shotgun.


I like the idea in combination with the new engineer wrench the P.D.Q (Still in beta phase) that builds quickly but with no upgrade ability. Throw up a sentry, and you're more able to defend it with a boosted shotgun. Fail to keep it up, and suffer the penalty.

Don't like it much. I think it would be better to get away from the Sentry > Engineer and Engineer relies on Sentry to do anything gameplay.

Possibly if it had a nerf to the sentry when you had it equipped I can see this working. I just don't like the idea that it draws the engie to be stuck near the sentry, but I understand how it could be used with the new wrench.

Engineer relies on sentry is a fundamental of the class, you can change the balance e.g. weak engineer and strong sentry or weak sentry with a strong engi, but the whole idea of the class is that his attack power comes from the sentry.

I mean he's a low health class with nothing but secondary weapons, he'll always need to rely on his sentry to supply additional damage, or at least a distraction.
