Alright, I've been reading this forum for a while (you guys pop up first if you type in Team Fortress 2 on google =P) as well as playing on your servers, and I just finally registered because I have a "useful" question. Yesterday I was on a clan server and there was a really good sniper on our team (about 230 points on Hydro). Anyways, one of the clan members asked him how he was getting noscopes so easily and he responded with "I have a mod that puts crosshairs on the sniper rifle when its not zoomed in." I thought he was gonna get banned immediately but the other guys were pretty cool with it. Something about it being used in "high end clan matches". Anyways, the reason I came here was to get a second opinion: Is this a hacksploit on your servers?

Also, if its not considered one, does anybody know where I can find it? It seemed really useful, especially for an ex-CS player like myself.

It is a hack. You can get some pretty easy head shots with it, and you don't get any of the lag/ delay of a regular scoped shot.

No need for a program, I play on 360 and just pull out my SMG and put a tiny piece of sticky label on the centre dot of the crosshair, so when you swap out your sniper yo still have the dot. Its pretty easy to gets hits and even headshots, but as it is not charged it does measly damage, I think I've only had 1 or 2 kills no-scoping. I think the SMG is much better, but thats just me.

It is a material hack that will not work with sv_pure set on 1 or 2.

It is illegal on our servers. If you get caught, you'll probably get warned and/or banned, so don't even bother with it here. No hacks, cheats or exploits are tolerated here.

Just dont do it. The reason it isnt defined clearly in comp matches is because you cant detect if someone puts tape on their screen. It's near impossible to catch if you do it right, but its just dumb. Its not hard to tell where the center of the screen is if you're smart.

(And you cannot get headshots without scoping. It just treats it as a regular shot)

honestly... if it wasn't a hack / exploit, then don't you think valve would've put crosshairs on the sniper rifle when it wasn't scoped? it's the only centered weapon without some kind of crosshair...
