Yea, these load-out threads have been active in a lot of forums and I have been nothing but addicted to this subject.  I find it strikingly interesting that TF2 is going nothing but forward in its gameplay, and with the Sniper it is no exception.

What I was thinking for the Sniper is a Burst-Shot Rifle.  You know how the Demoman stickies work?  Chrage it up and fire the stickies and it fires?  Think of this on a Sniper ,but the longer you charge it, the more consecutive shots would fire.  The only difference from the stickies are you cannot stop the charge, so every shot it would eventually have to fire.

In variation to the 1337 headshotting Sniper Rifle, the Burst-Shot Rifle could significantly damage, not kill, large groups by gunning down the whole pack.  A full burst shot on a single person would kill classes with 150 health and lower, but take a few shots more to kill the heavier classes.  The Burst-Shot rifle itself would shoot faster than a bolt-action sniper rifle, but would be hard to shoot long range because of its recoil.

Overall, this Burst-Shot Rfile trades in faster firing for accuracy and range, and makes the Sniper a little more versatile.

Any other ideas?

I don't know. That doesn't seem very... snipery.

I suggested this in another thread. It's not that good, but I thought I might as well.

A shot that defaults 150 dmg, but much slower charge and no headshot.

A frickin' laser. When you hit the fire key, your movement slows like a HW's, the laser charges up and then fires a couple of seconds later. The beam's clearly visible so people can trace you. The damage is good, the accuracy pinpoint.

good idea, it should fire in rapid succesion, but act like uncharged normal sniper shots
so people dont have much of a time to load up shots, and it gives them a rush to get as many enemies as they can in the time period...just my thoughts, dont know if that would actually work out though

Yeah.  Halo 3 is a great game.  What do you guys think of the new map pack?  What's the best strat for construct?

Wait, isn't this a tf2 board?

Maybe the sniper can have a weapon like it did in TFC.  It would be the sniper rifle and use its ammo and just shoot faster.  The sniper would then need more ammo for both its guns and therefore could continue sniping longer.  This would minimize resupply visits.

A sniper rifle incapable of zooming, and still without a non-zoomed crosshair.  But capable of non-zoomed headshots.  However, headshots would only be 100 damage, and there would be a longer reload.  Normal shot might be about 65 damage.  Right click would toggle the laser guide present in the current zoom mode.

A guy in this thread ( http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=671779 ) over the the steam forums has some decent ideas, ones I can see actually working with small tweaks. He has decent stuff for all the classes.

Sniper
-Inactive Cammo System (replaces SMG)
At the cost of your defensive weapon the Sniper is granted a cammo system. When the Sniper stands still for a few seconds he becomes semi-invisible, much like a 'shimmering' Spy after you bump into him.

-Tranq Gun (replaces Sniper Rilfe)
Instead of doing direct damage, shots to the body from this weapon will stun enemy players. It can do one of three things at random; (a) cause them to stop moving, dizzy for a few seconds (b) cause them to periodically lose HP from pain or (c) slow their movement speed. Headshots still deal critical damage, because pumping that much dope right into your skull is a painful experience.

-Heat Scope (replaces Sniper Rifle)
This scope allows the Sniper to detect heat signatures through thin objects. This does not work on cloaked Spies. Trouble is, of course, that it shows the signature of everyone and weapons fire also shows up.
