Hi all, I'm new to TF2F and I'd like to share my content.

I'm in the process of starting a blog about improving in multiplayer gaming. Last month I wrote an article specifically about improving as a Soldier in TF2, which is available here: http://www.crescivegamer.com/2009/02/team-fortress-2-soldier-style-guide/. I hope that it gives you some insight into how I think you can best improve as a TF2 player.

Please let me know if the article has value for you, as I'm eager to write more on various TF2 elements. Thanks for reading!

Very well written guide !

One type of guide I would like to see more of is when some pro player is recording his play and then make a video where he comments on what is happening and why he is doing what he did.
So far I have only seen one such type of video and that was G-man teaching a guy how to play spy better.

There are also a lot of more advanced topics not really covered by any tutorial I have seen so far (really advanced rocket jumping for example (like the ones needed to complete rj_rocketeer advanced or Jump_pagoda)).

Ah, I've seen and used that guide myself - it's quite good. Thanks for the tip!

Best text-based TF2 guide i ever read. And i'm not fond of written guides.
Edit: An additional exercise could be analyzing. F.I.

Play a 30 minute round and record it. Analyse everything you do throughly and find out where you make mistakes and what kind of mistakes do you make?

Also find a 30 minute sample of a known great soldier and analyse his play the same way. Compare it with your sample. Where are the differences?

Thanks! Your advice is great, we have similar thinking. That exercise will help a ton. I have a separate post on that site titled "Learning From Other Players" where I describe the same idea - although not as concise as you

From the guide:
  • Charge forward and take all the shots for your Medic
I'm glad someone finally pointed this out. So far this strategy guide (a very good one at that) is the only one that as the patient, you should at least be mindful of how competent your medic is. If they're not too good or there's simply to much fire, try to take some of it.

You've got a lot more potential for health than they do.
