Sup yall. Been playing Soldier quite a lot on 360, and I was wondering, what to do versus an aware Demoman? It seems like 360 Demomen are the equivalent of PC Soldiers, as I find clan matches are becoming full of Demomen.
In detail, when I fight and die to Demomen, it is probably because of well placed stickies. I can put a few well lead rockets, but usually the Demo will get a crit or I'll already be blasted away.
Please, I don't want the 360 to be a Demofest, and advice from you PC Soldiers will help me help Soldiers put them back to the #1 spot.

Rocket jump above them and shoot rockets at them!
As a soldier....when u are in the air you basically have...a massive advantage over any other class if they are sitting on the ground.
If you can't rocket jump above them, and he has a chokepoint or corner mined, then you either 1) go somewhere else 2) try and shoot the stickies away or 3) wait for uber .. or 4) wait for some1 else to kill him oooor 5) suicide rush!!!

best thing i find is to run round a corner (if area permits eg:sewers in 2fort) sit out the barrage of nades that fly round, wait for them to think you've buggered off so they toddle round said corner then UNLEASH ROCKET FURY! or y'know shoot the crap outta them.

Beware of the pipe bomb, if they hit you full on they will kill you. If they have stickies down, rocket jump over the stickies and kill them from behind. I just recommend rocket jumping as much as possible.

Ok since my clan was the #1 on the 360 i'll give all the PC people the inside scoop on how the matches are played. Mind you everything I say without saying "PC" is about the 360. As i've noticed on the PC Cevo matches they run 2 soldiers, 1 medic, 1 demoman, 1 scout, 1 heavy/sniper.
On the 360 it's quite different: 1 soldier, 2 demomen, 1 medic (2 medics if the team isn't very good), no scouts (not many good scouts on the 360), 1 engineer, and 1 spy. Now this is because of the controller thing, no flicking of the mouse means no good scouts, no mouse means not a lot of good snipers. The reason for the 2 Demomen is because shooting stickies doesn't involve flicking the mouse too much, and stickies is what most 360 demomen used, they would use pipes every once in a while to spam but it was mostly stickies (Excluding Chupathingy, who was the pro pipe shooter)
Now back to the original point about soldiers over coming demos. Rocket jumping is not always the solution. since you're using a controller with low sensitivity you'll rocket jump up, but then you wont have time to look at the demoman and shoot while you're in the air. Now my specialty class on the 360 during our matches was soldier, what I did was raise my sensitivity all the way up. This will get some getting used to, but you once you get used to it you can rocket jump easier and maybe even get some midair shots.
PS: tootricky, watch out for the demomen from "The Blood Brothers", those guys are brutal.

Lol you talkin about Biggy56? Yea, he's a monster, totally shut down my Soldier, had to go Demo to actually start contesting. We're tied with them in games, just trying to be the next Failtruck on 360 =)
Thanks for the tip guys, I'm kinda getting to the Uber level on 360, just gotta perfect mid-air shots. When I get a capture card, I'll post a video on just how good Xbox Soldiers can be.
Again, thanks for the tips, I'll keep trying to give Soldiers a name.

i have the exact same problem, but i am on the pc, people say the soldiers have a advantage over demoman at almost all tims, but on the tf2f servers i get constantly owned by col. stuffenberg, unknowned, and people. I feel iIm a disgrace to soldiers when I'm on these servers. My in game is fatality154 but changed to Jin.

As a demoman, I will continue to make things rough for you 360 soldiers, we can get that height advantage too, but it's more for camping than for open combat all the time.

Demos naturally have an advantage over soldiers. Try to isolate him on even ground, and out in the open. Getting closer is a good idea, and strafe around the stickies. I would suggest for all you 360 players, that there is the ability to hook up a mouse and keyboard to the xbox, and you should all do it! http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/747/747585p1.html

Wow, I didn't realize their was a way to use a mouse/keyboard on the 360! I will have to pick me one of those up, that would give you a huge advantage over controller users.
