Some Great Country Music

I am really impressed by Eli Young Band’s most recent album, “Jet Black and Jealous”, which was recently released by umg.  The album is a great Texas Red Dirt album that really has a great sound that does not sound overly manufactured like a lot of other recent albums to come out in the genre.  Overall the album is a major step in the right direction for them. • Miranda Lambert - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Catchy country twang, butt kicking girl songs.
• Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins - Rabbit Fur Coat. Not traditional country, but definitely bluegrass inspired. Gorgeous harmonies courtesy of the Watson Twins. Jenny Lewis brings a hipster indie rock sensibility to her lyrics, which makes the songs really interesting.

• Alison Krauss - you can't go wrong with her bluegrass albums.
• Joan Osborne released an album of country songs (6 originals and 6 cover songs) called Pretty Little Stranger that's probably on my top 10 list of albums released in the last 5 years.
• George Canyon - the most traditional "country" on this list. One of my favorite songs would have to be "Letting Go"

My favourite "country" band is Junior Gone Wild.  I don't know how successful you'd be at finding their music, though, as they were mainly a local band.  They are also pretty "rock-ish" for country.
