Spy Update Ideas

I was thinking about the Spy and what kind of new weapons and things it would get for an update. I thought about it and I have some suggestions. Considering most of you guys are better players than me, could you tell me if these would work or not?

Replacing the Switchblade (Or whatever its called)...the Laser Knife!
What would it do? It would be a small red laser that would have a slight extending blade for those hard to stab distances.
Tradeoff? It would glow quite a bit so if your cloaked you might have a reddish tint.

Replacing the Revolver.....the Grappling Gun!
What it would do? It would fire a grappling hook that would inflict damage at a small-medium range and allow the Spy to propel him/herself into the enemy base or as a means of escape.
Tradeoff? The range of the harpoon as an effective weapon against an enemy would not be very worthwhile.

Replacing the Disguise Kit....the Mirage Scanner!
What it would do? It would make you appear as a different class to each enemy you come across. If an enemy sees you would theoretically look like a Pyro, while his teammate might see you as a Scout.
Tradeoff? Obviously if your enemies are communicating correctly, they will discuss the differences and kill you.

Replacing the Sapper....the EMP Ball!
What would it do? It would create a pulse of EMP that would disable any technonlogy in the area. The ball would be thrown like a bowling ball.
Tradeoff? Your tech would be affected as well. Say goodbye to any disguise you were wearing or cloaking you doing.

So what do you guys think?

Butterfly Knife: Seems a bit worthless/unexciting. Would you always glow, thus making it worthless

Grappling Hook: I actually thought of this idea too, and think it could (COULD) be implemented well. It could have great use, but you lose the revolver. Most Spies would stick with the Revolver

EMP: Interesting, but too gimicky. A lot of people are hoping the Sapper replacement will revolve around a bit more than the Engie

Also, welcome to the community

Well maybe it wouldn't always have to glow, but since it would extend I thought it would need some sort of balance. If you mean glowing while in camo, it would only be a slight tint that a hawkeyed play would notice.

I agree about your worries about the Grappling Ho.

As for the EMP, at least it would give you a better chance against constant Engie sapping removal.

Thanks for the welcome.

knife sounds meh

grappling hook sounds interesting..

not sure about the mirage scanner.

emp might be OP depending on the specifics.

overall though, better ideas than most people come up with.

Yeah I didn't quite know what to do about the Butterfly Knife, it just seemed like the Laser Knife seemed spy-like and be useful for getting that hard to stab person o slightly out of reach with your normal knife.

The grappling hook was mostly influenced by my time on 2fort with all the constant Demoman/Solider/Scout breaching on the Battlements. Oh and Rorshach from "Watchmen" was an influence too.

The EMP sounds overpowered, but I feel the radius would be small and you still lose your disguise and/or camo.

Thanks for the compliments though, I respect people like you.

There's actually a mod out there that gives each class specfic grenades; the engy has an emp one that can knock out sentries and disguises.

I'm just curious about the emp device, in what way would it disable devices? Stop them from working like a sapper? Or competely demolish them? Would it be instant or a countdown? Is it destroyable like a sapper or once it's in is it invincible?

It would stop them from working like a sapper, be instant, and would wear off after a while. It would also be destroyable, but the effects would linger for a bit.

For me?

To replace the revolver would be the Health Pack Grenade.
Pros: Its a grenade duisguised as a health pack. If an enemy walks over it, it blows up and half of all their hp is taken off leaving half yet, which is pretty good if you lay 2 in a row and a Heavy comes to them. After they blow up you can backstab him.
Cons: Your teammates cant tell its a HPG so if they walk over it it damages them too.

To replace the sapper would also be the EMP ball.

To replace the original knife would be...nothing! The original knife is the best and nothing can replace it.

Thats it for me.
