I am posting this here to stop the derailment I caused in Ror's application thread, my apologies for causing any trouble. Original post originally here: LINKAGEQuote:

I
resent being McCain in this comparison, lol. I'm not vouching, I'm sure
people have their minds made up and no one seems to care about
"vouches" anyway, I'm just telling the kid to enjoy the community
without fighting for something that people have decided against. Hell I
know I gave Ror my fair share of shit, but he's a good kid and doesn't
deserve being treated like crap.
Just have fun Ror, it's all that matters bro!
Derail.
cause im pissed. and i dont care what people think im blunt.
i like this thing he said
I'm sure people have their minds made up and no one seems to care about "vouches" anyway
Pretty
sure thats how he felt towards me and a few others, it only took what
sense december and for him to be gone to get me in? sad voss, practice
what you preach,
RE rail
still another vouch for my buddy rorshach!!! XD
I
don't mean to take this thread somewhere else, but I can understand how
you feel, however it was hard for me to consider a candidate that
basically messaged me everyday asking the same question. Not to mention
you felt you should be in because you knew Pan and Punx IRL and you
were at the LAN, you threw that in my face quite a bit. I could
understand the enthusiasm but seriously, I wasn't the only one making
the decisions near the end for me which was around the time you
applied. People seem to forget that Chuckles and Lancer had a decision
in the matter, so let's not pin your frustration on just me buddy.
As
for others, yes I denied them despite the popular vote, not because I
didn't like them, but mostly due to the fact that even though they may
have been well liked, they lacked the respect for leadership or had a
history of problems which worried me and others as well. If I didn't
let people in based on how I felt about them, then there would be a few
who never received tags at all to be honest, I don't intend to name
names, but the previous poster Malhavok comes to mind, go find his
thread and see what I mean, yet I still asked him to join the Squigs
and we had no issues since.
Vouches did matter in the beginning,
but little by little the process was breaking down and ultimately it
became irrelevant, even during my time, that's why I wanted others to
have a say in the matter so people didn't feel like I was an evil
asshole in charge of everything, some people were missed unfortunately
and in the end it was best that no one came in due to the constant
squabbling between Squigs about merging with the [] and being seriously
competitive which ultimately led to me leaving and the formation of
these mini-factions.
I remember when being a Squig mattered,
it was something that was given to those who showed they loved the
community they were in, but it became something else rather quickly and
many bad decisions were made along the way, some by me and some by
others. It sure didn't help that I was essentially pressured and forced
to "pad" the numbers even though certain people did not fit the
criteria, simply because the more people in the clan, the better it
looked for the site, just like the more posts(regardless of quality) on
the site, the better we looked in Google. Apparently my idea and goals
for the squigs was pushed aside by the idea that
quantity mattered more than
quality.
I'm
not saying it's not all my fault, but I am saying that I didn't do it
alone. I will always remember how this site was, how the community was
before the politics and fighting about competition came in and ruined
it all.
