Stickes VS Pipes

Pipes win.

srsly tho...pipes for lobbing unseen areas and quick attacks, stickies for more time and planned out attacks, overall i vote stickies!

Stickies and Pipes complement each other.  When they are both used together properly, they double in efficiency.

Its situational.  Stickies if you need to draw enemies to a certain area and blow them to bits.  Pipes if you want to clear a room for yourself or your team.  But in the end the whiskey bottle dominates all.

Use your pipes to kite enemies into sticky traps.

My 2 cents.

It all depends on the situation. Stickies can propel you better and are perfect for traps and dissuading enemies and getting shots around corners. Pipes are for more head on combat just because they are faster and more efficient to use. Budding demomen tend to use stickies since they are easier to control and are more reliable - and that's fine. But when you learn to use all your weapons - including the almighty bottle of whisky - you'll learn to appreciate them all.

PS - if it's regarding scouts. There's nothing better than a wtf on their part from a pipe bomb.

pipes for close range combat and long range bombing, stickies for medium and defense.  I am probly one of the biggest pipe users in this game, i used it all the time no matter what and after playing in competitive leagues for a while.... stickies just own them in normal combat.  Even with a big group attacking its best to use stickies and get the medic specifically.  Pipes are good for a very rapid attack, but with a long det time, long reload and low clip size.... its a bitch to use vs. good players.  Basically if you don't kill what your going for after the first clip you're dead.

Now with crits on, that completely changes things.  The grenade launcher is a god damn beast with crits.  but without crits the pipes took a very big hit.  The chance to kill a 125hp class is pretty low, its possible but not common.  Although i've died to another demoman in 1 hit, its so random, but i keep drawing the short straw and wont kill anyone in 1 hit.

Lay a sticky trap then switch to pipes.  It's like having two weapons at once!
