Stuck Loading Windows

All of a sudden, I can't boot into windows. I've been having this problem for the past few days (the day before a paper i had saved was due) and I'm not sure where to go from here.

So, the Windows logo comes up along with the loading bar. it then goes to a black screen then the arrow appears. i can move the mouse around but it wont advance to the user select screen. I know its a problem with windows cause I can boot Ubuntu (what im on now) with no problems and I can view all the files on my hard drive, indicating that it works fine.

Anyone heard of this and know what to do about it? Thanks

Can you get Windows into safe mode? F8 at startup, I think. See if it works.

nope, tried that, does the exact same thing (albeit in a reduced resolution)

I have a recovery partition that I was going to try booting from but i dont know if that reformats the computer. will it keep all the files and stuff?

If all else fails you have data recovery experts

i can get to every file under linux. i just dont want to have to back all of them up then reinstall all my programs.

on a side note, can i reinstall all my games, steam or otherwise? most used serial codes so does that mean that they are used up?

and on the steam games, can i just redownload them using my username?

if you log in to a steam account and dont have the games installed on that computer, you can just download them.

so yes, you can reinstall steam games. not sure about other cd keys, should be able to, but depends on the game i would say.

Ok, I have a bad partition. And now I cant access that partition so I can't get to any of my files.

Actually, yes I could. Thats what I did and i dont remember a time when I couldnt so im not sure why i wrote that....
