I'll load up TF2 just fine. I'll open up my "find servers" and find a server that is open and has a relatively low ping (<100). I double click and it loads up fast. Receiving server info....then it goes to "sending client info" and it always freezes in the same spot: right above the V in VAC. Also, I have a similar problem whenever I join a server that makes you download something. Whether it is a sound clip or a map, it will stop loading/downloading while on that screen (as in no progression in the bar). I'm not impatient and I let it load for a fairly long time (5 minutes) and finally decide that it is not loading and am forced to CTRL+ALT+DEL my way out. I've done everything from defragging my gcf files to verifying cache and updating my drivers.
Also, just to be clear, I am 100% sure my computer can run TF2. Occasionally I will get lucky and load into a game which I can play perfectly once I am in. However, about 75-80% of time I cannot get into a server.
