hey, i'm kinda tired of demo, so i;m gonna switch to scout. I just have a couple of quick questions:

1. Sensitivity: My sens is at 7 and it seem to high. my dpi is 400. whats a good sensitivity fore a scout.

2. Would it be better for me to avoid soldiers and heavies until I improve?

3. whats a good scout jump map to practice jump maps on.

4. Should i just practice gunnign for the medic/sniper/key targets.

5. Any other general tips would be great!

Thanks!

Work on not getting hit while still dealing damage. Scout can dodge projectiles very easily so it is important to get good at it. Also work on killing a protected medic as quickly as possible (may have to dodge if you are spotted).

My sensitivity is 1.0 and I can play Scoot fine.

2. Would it be better for me to avoid soldiers and heavies until I improve?

I don't see why you would avoid hard targets. If you run away from them you'll never be able to improve against them and never take them down.

3. whats a good scout jump map to practice jump maps on.

um... You could jump around on normal maps, it'd probably be more useful and I have never heard of a Scoot jump map and they really don't need one.

4. Should i just practice gunnign for the medic/sniper/key targets.

Practice against all classes, but yes, targeting those classes is a good idea if you can.

5. Any other general tips would be great!

Shoot them.

Thanks!

i'm a meh scout, so take this with a grain of salt...but...

1) i use a dpi of 800 and 1.8 sens when i play, personally i play with a REALLY low sens, like...i have to make a sweep of 3-4 inches to make a 180. i find it imporves accuracy a lot.

2) I say no, don't rush them but you should learn to take them out while improving.

4) yes..yes..a thousand times yes

Jump maps are useless. If you're going to practice jumping for the most part you should do them on real maps~

I use an absurdly low sens for scout, 2 in game at 800dpi. I find my worst attribute as scout is manuvering, I have shitty keyhand abilities, which usually gets me killed. I can aim and take out a medic regularly, but I do awful in scout duels because I don't dodge properly. I'd say that's the most important thing to work on, since aiming is all innate ability.

In the more competitive atmosphere, timing and cooperating with other Scouts or assault classes are very important.

The Scout is one of the very few classes in the game that has the ability to pick the majority of his battles, and can even flee in the middle of a firefight to pick up health and return to finish the job.

Learning to take advantage of your speed to make short, quick, efficient ambushes to kill key classes (mostly Medic) is one of the most important aspects of the Class.

Learning to aim your Scattergun, however, is a different story. Some can do it, others need a bit of practice first.

same for the sens, cept im not sure on my DPI (i use a logitech mx310, default windows drivers)
i'm the complete opposite in terms of how I play.  I can dodge around people forever, half the time I miss every shot tho :-/

If you want to get good at moving around, the best way to do it is in real maps, not the jump maps (mainly so you can actually use the jumps in a real game).  My favourite spot to jump around is the B point on Gravelpit.

from 3:30 to about 6:40 is all on gravelpit.  there are more that aren't in this video, but they are pretty good practice, and lots of fun.
