The TF2F Community proudly hosts Pick-up Games every Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 EST as well as every night at 11:30EST where all our community regulars are invited to join us in a little organized game play with your fellow TF2 players. The games are opened to everybody who meet the minimal requirements below. If you have never participated in one of our SPUGs (or any form of competitive play for that matter) come join the festivities! This thread will give you all the information you need to know in order to participate in the PUGs.
VENTRILO:We use Ventrilo for team selecting and communication during game. You must have Ventrilo installed before you can join our SPUGs. Ventrilo is a free Voice over IP program which you can download at
www.ventrilo.com. After you've learned how to use your Ventrilo, use the following information to log on to our Ventrilo channel :
- Hostname or IP : vent29.gameservers.com
- Port number : 5787
SERVERS:PUG games are played on either of our clans' servers. Which server you play on will change day-to-day. It is recommended that you add these servers to your favorites before you join the SPUGs. Server passwords will be given out in Ventrilo before the SPUG begins.

REQUIREMENTS:In order to play in a TF2F hosted PUG, you must meet these minimal set of requirements :
- Must have Ventrilo installed.
- Must have a microphone to communicate with teammates.
- Must have a moderately steady connection with minimal lag.
If you meet these requirements, come to our Ventrilo channel at least 10 minutes before the SPUG starts (SPUGs start at 2:00 EST) and join the "PUG" Channel.
RULES:
- Do not rage.
- Do not intentionally grief the team (as player or captain) by
playing bullshit classes or doing whatever else you can to hinder the
game for the rest of the players. The ultimate goal is to win your
game, but not at the expense of alienating your teammates or your
opponents.
- If you have to leave in the middle of a game, find a sub before
you leave. Continuously doing so will eventually lead to a ban from the
PUGs. If you don't have the time to play at least two maps, then don't
join the PUGs.
- When you're in the PUG channel nearing 11:30est, stop talking. It
is very frustrating for admins to talk over 30+ people. If you have a
problem with staying quiet, you may get kicked from vent and someone
else may take your spot. Just don't talk.
- Players must obey the will of their PUG captain. If you don't
like how your captain is running his team, then we invite you to
captain a PUG team.
These rules are simple and offer many choices to players. If players
are unwilling to comply, they will be banned. Quite frankly, if you
can't follow these simple rules, good luck finding another open nightly
community oriented PUG that will cater to your shit attitude.
PROCEDURE:Our SPUGs are typically comprised of teams ranging from 6 - 9 players per team (based on how many players we have available) and are played in tournament fashion where winners of the first round face each other and losers of the first round face each other in the second round. (team A beats team B, team C beats team D, team A versus team C, team B versus team D).
The PUGs are NOT on a first-come first-serve basis. The PUG channel will stay open until captains are selected and teams are ready to be picked. This means that it's possible for someone to come into the channel 30 minutes before the PUG starts and still not get chosen. To better your chances of being picked in a PUG, you need to be willing to play multiple classes and included classes normally run in each type of game. For example, if you only have Pyro written in your comments on a 6v6 PUG, you can expect not to get picked.
We recommend to players that they write the classes they want to and are able to play in their comments; However, all players joining our PUGs must realize that the classes you list are suggestions and the team captain may request you play a different class, of which you will oblige. Refusing to do so may lead to being banned from the PUGs. A typical class lineup in 6v6 is 1 Medic, 1 Demo, 2 Soldiers and 2 Scouts with players playing utility classes on and off during the game.
People are asked to volunteer to captain. If no one volunteers, an admin running the PUG will select captains either randomly or at their discretion. Refusing to captain after being chosen may eventually lead to a ban. We don't choose people who have never played a PUG, so only people who have played a few games will get chosen. Captains don't worry about not getting chosen, so it's wise to volunteer for captain on occassion.
