I love sniping in pretty much every single game i play. I am fairly decent as a sniper in halo 3, cod4, rainbow vegas: 1 and 2, gears of war, etc. At first i thought i was just bad at computer sniping (i have all those games for 360), but when i tried my friend's cod4 for pc, i was still pretty good (not to flatter myself, i'll justify it by admitting i suc at everything else =D). But here's the problem, i just suck at tf2 sniping, what's the difference? I knpw people move a bit faster in this, but still, there has to be another difference. In most games, i try sniping for the first time and am already decent from playing those other games, but i just suck at tf2 sniping. I know i need practice, but besides that, can anyone that snipes in other games and tf2 give me advice on this, and if they think it's harder than other games? And please don't say i was flattering myself, im just trying to get advice by making a point, and i justified by admitting to sucking with most guns accept snipers =D. Thanks alot if you can help me, i wish to give somd kind of reward, but tf2f doesn't allow sex for tf2 tips

I hear you, sniping in TF2 seems alot harder than other games. I hard to say what it is that makes it harder; it might be how fast the characters can move. That said the best thing i can say is practice practice practice. It's just one of those things that will come with time. It also seems like many of the maps i;ve played (which on the xbox are all offical maps) aren't the most sniper friendly with not too many good spots to sit and snipe from. The biggest thing for me to help my sniping was another game; Day of Defeat, or DOD, which is another steam game, based in WWII. The trends i got from playing that game for almost 2 years has made me a dominant sniper in games like halo or call of duty. I hope this has been of some help, and keep sniping my friend.

for me its actually the size of the hitbox that troubles me, I absolutely suck at long range sniping but its short-med range sniping where I get my kills.

Another big difference is the idea of charging shots- in other games, you can just quick-scope headshot for an instant kill, which is how most kills usually go. However, with varying health per class and a weak quick-scope, TF2 sniping is a whole different ballgame.

There's a rumor that the rifle used in Meet the Sniper will be the sniper's replacement rifle, which has no laser, different scope hud, no charge, but can instantly headshot kill with no charge and bullets can pass through people.
Makes sense, probably has a weak body shot and maybe less ammo.

It's just a movie. It's like asking why arnold never runs out of ammo in his AK-47. I bet the austrian government has some sort of special, ammo regeneration technology hidden in their ass.

It's seriously misery for me to Snipe in TF2. Especially I'm a great sniper in Halo3 and CoD4! Also it can't be the Mouse/Keyboard combo, because I'm using a 360 Controller on my PC. I think it's just the game. Frankly, I rather be a scout right now. There aren't many GREAT places to Snipe in TF2, unlike Halo3. I only use the Sniper for Mele only battles lol.

No bullet drop, no bullet delay, and the way it handles hit detection differs apparently from some other FPS according to some grumblings I heard the other day. On top of that, the hitboxes can sometimes be touchy, especially if you're aiming to headshot a heavy and it's really a spy in disguise(It apparently misses since it's not really his head but thin air? confirmation?)

Makes sense, probably has a weak body shot and maybe less ammo. I wish, good luck though. A rifle like that'd be too powerful in the hands of even your run-of-the-mill snipers. hopefully any new rifle does do more damage for headshots than the current one, maybe with a reverse charge instead.
