Hey Everyone, This is my first class suggestion but I will be posting more, especially if people like this one. I have made what I think is an original, unlike any other, balanced class. Lets start with the appearance.
The Psycho is an escapee of a loony bin, he is wearing a straight jacket but with the arms ripped through and the rest of his body is like... mummified, even his head only leaving his eyes visable which should have large black pupils with a redish shine, also his fingers should be visable. All his clothing should have bloodstains on it.
Now for the weapons, stats and stuff...
Role - Offensive Speed - 120% Health - 180 Special - Takes more damage from fire, not the hits but while on fire.
Weapons!
Primary – Bloodreaperffice ffice" />>>
The Bloodreaper is a two handed gun that works using the ammo of dead bodies, it shoots a powerful stream blood that doesn’t go very far range without arcing and it very weak at long range. No Secondary Fire.>>
> >
Secondary – Cleavers>>
The Cleavers should be a ranged weapon, a cleaver held in both hands should be thrown rapidly but very inaccurately but causing a fair 50 damage per hit. No critical hits.>>
Secondary Fire should throw them slower, for 30 damage but accurately.>>
> >
Melee – Chainsaw>>
The Chainsaw must be started before it can be used and it is started up each time you switch to it, this prevents it from being used after sneaking up behind someone because it should also make a loud noise while running. Primary fire swings it causes average melee weapon damage but has a high chance to have a critical hit. Secondary fire stabs it into someone which makes them start bleeding to death until they get healed if the Psycho doesn’t finish them off.>>

It's an interesting concept, but I'm not sure that it fits with the TF2 theme, which focuses on quasi-functional military classes for the game.
|
I know, which is the problem I have with making up classes, I don't think one of my ideas is military. Although I didn't think there was a pyro in military, oh well. Any I dont expect valve to add it or anything, I do this for fun but when I have a huge pack of ideas I'll send them all at once.
|
There were soldiers in WWII (and other conflicts) who were tasked with carrying flamethrowers in battle. So, while it's not exactly as Valve represents it, there's a real-life example for the Pyro class.
Your class suggestion here sounds more appropriate for a different type of game. Frankly, it sounds a bit like something you'd see in a game like Resident Evil or Manhunt.
When thinking up classes for TF2, it may help to remember that the game's style is pretty PG, and the emphasis is on fun, cartoonish characters that you might find in an over-the-top 60s spy movie setting.

I know this characters just an idea, I made it for fun. Although he should look funny, I think he should have a large round head. hehe

Along with typist's concerns, there are a few others I'd like to voice.
Firstly is that I don't quite see a role this guy is meant to fill. I mean if you have one in mind, you may want to flesh it out a little more and make it a little more obvious in your first post.
Secondly, I think bloodrush is a wee bit overpowered. I mean, sure it takes 20 seconds to kill a guy and reach this state, but you can just use a retard spy for that. To pretty much be a scout with one-hit melee and 400 health is WAY too much. Also the added ten seconds for every kill is way too much also as in the concentrated maps of TF2, it's not hard to find a person every ten seconds. I can see what you're trying to achieve, with every kill adding to the guy's blood frenzy, so if you need a time bonus make it small so that the guy doesn't become unstoppable. I also thin one-hit melee should just be really hard hitting melee, like 100 damage a piece or something, while still attacking moderately fast. And 400 health, either bring it down to 300 or 250 or have it slowly drain away like a medic buff.
|
Well this is a basic idea, first I'll answer what you said about the blood rush, this was rushed as a feature to make the class more original and seperate it from other classes. The time addition should be lower I agree, I think 300 hp would work just aswell. The reason I said 20 seconds is so you have time to get to people anyway because your not going to choke someone in the open.
As for the role I was trying to achieve a more loner class who is not effected by teammates in anyway so Ive deicided to buff his regular health to 225 but he cannot be ubered or healed by a medic, only resupply and medkits.

Way too creepy dude. Picture a scout, then a heavy, then a spy, then the psycho. one of those things is not like the others. nice first try though. keep trying, you'll get it.

Kaz, have you ever played World of Padman? The Bloodreaper weapon seems quite similar to the Boaster weapon in WoP, and the Bloodrush seems like the Puppet Master. Maybe he could need 5 or 6 melee kills in a row to get it aswell.
I actually disagree with alot of what has been said here. People say that he is too creepy, that he doesn't fit with the other classes styles. But most classes are an exageration. The Soldier is an exageration of an army commander. The Scout is an exageration of an annoying baseball kid. The Psycho is an exageration of a movie psycho, like a jokey parody. Maybe the original idea needs altering to fit that, or maybe i got the wrong idea entirely. lilgamefreak said that he doesn't see the role the Psycho fills, but isnt that exactly the point? The Psycho wouldn't work in a team, he would attack alone, and TF2 sorta needs a class that can play well alone, for when your playing with a bunch of noobs. I really dont think the soldier is enough. mad_typist said that it doesn't fit with the military theme of TF2, but the military theme is only there because the classes are the same as the original, which was just a army game. None of the classes - except the soldier - seem very militant to me. Besides, Im sure theres been some war when leaders decided to give guns to mental patients and send them at the enemy. Oh wait, there the ones who send the people in....
Despite that, I wouldn't like to play this class. Sorry, it just doesn't seem right for me. Except in melee fights, that chainsaw would be cool. I also think....get rid of the choke ability, save it for a Darth Vader class. He already has a melee, two if u count the cleavers, so he doesn't really need another one.
