A pyro is not a legitimate pyro unless he attempts to set fire to absolutely everything that moves anywhere near him, such as a Pyromaniac truly would. This is his compulsion transformed to a wonderfull duty: to set aflame anyone trying to fool his teammates.
Fellow teammates; do not be perturbed by a teammate pyro trying to set even
you on fire: his flamethrower is merely a judge, the flames are a trial
by fire, and if you pass that trial by truly being a team member, then you have nothing to fear. But woe betide a traitor in your midst!
Spys are clever, and proud, and arrogant. Right up
until the very moment their elegantly crafted finery is set aflame!! Then they are revealed for the spaztic wimps that they truly are, when put to this ultimate test!
The Pyros close quarter aiming skill means far more than other classes' similar skills, becuase with the flames flying everywhere he cant see anything
either, yet STILL has to keep the bead on you. When you realize that he takes that handicap willfully and nevertheless performs skillfully, then respect cannot be denied.
When pyro meets a randomly encountered teammate in an awkard position in the heat of battle, the honorific way to prove that you are not a spy is to send some flame flying.. as that is something even the best spy suits simply cannot manage!
A pyro can die happy and content, so long as everything around him is aflame as he falls.
Few realize the nature of the Flamethrowers nozzle: It is a pressurized stream of fuel that indeed sends flames out a respectable distance, yet its nature becomes even more brutal close in, as the spray is no longer a fanning spray, but a pressurized jet of ignited fuel.... pressurized, and focused... not unlike a giant
blowtorch.
