Since as far as I can tell, there isn’t really much of a guide for Scouts, I’ve decided to take the duty upon myself. Hopefully it’ll give some incite for people just getting into the class and some extra tidbits for long-time players.

General Tips>>

1)      Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge – This basically translates into keep moving and jump around like a bat out of hell at all times. The Scout’s main weapon is his agility. If they can’t keep up with you and can’t hit you, they definitely can’t kill you. When travelling through open areas, zigzag to avoid enemy fire.>>

2)      Keep open – As a Scout, you’re best in open spaces. Enclosed spaces give you way less manoeuvrability and can be a death sentence for Scout. If you have to go in a tight space, get out soon as possible. If you see opposition, lead them on to your turf.>>

3)      Watch your back – When travelling around, you’ll want to make sure there’s not something waiting to take you out, such as a sentry. You have low durability, so sentries will tear you up in a second. Pyros waiting to ambush you are as much as a threat, they’ll make you ffice:smarttags" />lace w:st="on">Kentuckylace> fried before you can gain any dist

Thanks for the tips man, Ive been playing Scout lately, my only problem is that it's too tempting for me to take out my bat and swing swing away instead of using my scattergun.

I wouldn't call the spy revolver weak, I have killed a big amount of scouts who thought they'd get an easy kill.

i recomend using the bat on demos because they have no direct combat, if they take out the bottle, don't be afraid to be cheap and take out your scatter gun =P plus heavy's are extremely vulnerable when they're not spinning the minigun so empty a few shots, and then retreat as soon as it spins.  I'm new to the scout but ba ba ba ba baaaa I'm loving it

ok that was cheesy

You can use baseball bat on Demos, but I often fine that they won't be afraid to turn around and blow you up point blank, even if it means they go with you. It's true about the Heavies, though.

Alright, it does do decent damage, but it's incredibly hard to hit a Scout with if they're moving about. I'll edit that.

Agree with everything except the bat.
The bat is damn good.
Fastest fire rate of melee weapon in the game.
It is also damn funny.
Maybe it's just my obsession with melee weapons though.

The bat is good to finish of enemys on low health and it makes them feel suckish to be meleed

also adding to the soldier part.  Killing soldiers can be hard but double jumping to avoid splash damage will keep you on good health while you hurt them badly with the scatter gun, after a while the soldier usually takes out his shotgun.  This is when i usually bat them to death.

also when you run out of scatter guns shots:

if you have low health-run for hp and reload
if your full or near full-bat them to death

also the bat is great for taking out medics because they can't fight back and you don't have to worry about missing.

imo if you know how to use the bat, its friggin awesome.

I didn't say anything's wrong with the bat, just that the Scattergun is stronger and often a better option. The bat's your best option when your Scattergun needs reloading, however.

Today on the tf2f server a scout was running at me with his bat and I killed him with the bonesaw before he could hit me. Medics have an awesome melee weapon, the scattergun is always the best option. If he doesn't see you coming the bat works though.
