The Thief?

Hi im Ghostrain and would like to say hi first!

Anyways I just thought of this for fun.

I think a neat little class would be a thief class.

Weapons:
Main: FN P90
Sub: Silenced pistol
Melee: Crowbar
Special: Grappling hook/laptop

The thief is a French Man/Woman who is a mastermind at stealing the enemies intelligence and  can  be used as a support class as well. Running speed is above average but no where near the scout's speed. The thief wears a black full body suit for stealth so they hide in the shadows and perhaps some goofy goggles like splinter cell above their head.

The FN P90 is a fast rapid firing sub machine gun that doesn't do very good damage to enemies but is balanced do to its large clip of ammo. Good for running and gunning.

The silenced pistol like any normal silenced pistol. Silenced adding to the theme of a theif. But it can have its benefits. For example if you miss a shot then nobody heard you miss anyway. You should get a better crit chance from behind though. But otherwise it does less damage than regular pistols.

The crowbar adds to the theme of the theif but what is special about it? I don't know! I dont think it should to stick with balance issues  but if you think of something then tell me.

Okay so this is where the  thief comes in handy. The thief may be very weak in combat but the grappling hook is something unique.

The Grappling Hook can be used to reach some high places that might take longer to get to other wise. Also you team mates as well can use the grappling hook to climb up as well. The enemy team can cut or shoot down grappling hooks and if your caught climbing one then your defenseless. Also a scout can double jump so he is not to be outdone. (A good idea would be to set one up next to a teleporter exit for maximum speed on the field) They can also be used a decoys. As an enemy cuts down a grappling hook they may be facing a wall leaving some potential crits from behind with your silencer!

The final tool in the thief's erm utility belt? is the laptop computer. If a thief manages to get inside your base be careful! as he/she can use the laptop to temporarily reprogram your sentry guns! The thief would pull out the laptop and ,using the right trigger , the laptop will begin a search for a close sentry (perhaps around a corner) after it has found one it will begin to reprogram it. This can take some time so make sure your in a safe spot! If your manage to get the sentry on your side then a timer will appear on your screen for about oh say I dont know 10 seconds? after the ten seconds are up then the turret is back on the other team again. So you best be out of there by then! A good thing about this is that if an enemy spy takes out the turret then its not your lose! the engineer must now build a new turret! But if the engineer can manage to hit the turret with the wrench once then it will be back on the enemies side again regardless of the time.

Well there you have it a quick mock up of a new class!

Please, no new class ideas. The classes we have are the same ones since TFC. We find these kind of threads highly annoying.

Besides, we already have a similar class: the Spy. He can get to otherwise well defended locations with his cloak, and can render enemy sentries useless with his sapper. Critting from behind? The spy has an instant-kill backstab knife for that.

I find the idea quite interesting.  There's nothing wrong with a little creativity in the forums, in my opinion.  It's a pretty well thought out class, and although it sounds a bit like the spy, it's still unique.  Sorry you find it annoying, Frost.  I think these ideas should be welcomed.  It's not like Valve is going to add new classes to the game, anyway.  It's just a nice bit of imagination.  I mean, come on - this IS a sub-forum for "Class Suggestions."

and Valve has said that they are thinking about adding new classes to the game in a interview

I was thinking instead of a grappling hook then perhaps the thief's suit can climb on walls. Or perhaps it is too far of a stretch.

I really like your idea.  It's a fun, unique suggestion.

The grappling hook is not a bad idea.  It should only work for yourself, though.  And it should be quick.  Think of Batman's utility belt.  That fast, and the cord stays with you, leaving nothing behind.
