ok, so those who have played through Thief Deadly Shadows, when you sneak into the forbidden library,  and you go all the way to the top floor.  on one of the nights, Caduca and Gamall are there, on another, it's Gamall alone.  when only Gamall is there, if you sneak into the very upper office, and hide behind the big desk, you can wait for her to enter that room as she makes her rounds.  when she does, and she thinks she's alone.....she stretches like 2 feet taller!!!!  the first time i saw this i got freaked out, but i assumed that it was a glitch.   then we learn the truth about gamall, and it seems the developers put it in there as some subtle foreshadowing for players who like to explore the game...

That's awesome. I never noticed, and I've played through the game twice. Right now I'm busy replaying Thief 2. Woo!

You should. I liked it a lot. Not as much as the first two (which were the two best games ever made). A lot of people dislike it because it deviates a bit from the style of the first two, but I still enjoyed it. It had some very immersive levels, and great sound.

THREAD REVIVAL!

yeah, thief 3 did make some changes, but honestly, Thief is one of those games that is just better in 3rd person.  and i think they managed to tighten up the inventory without really reducing the functionality - for example, when did you ever use breath potion?  in like 2 or 3 missions in both the Looking Glass games, and in those cases it was pretty much just an arbitrary way to get you to swim down a long underwater ditch.

honestly, thief 3 (or Thief Deadly Shadows, if you're not into the whole brevity thing) is my favorite of the series (although i haven't finished the first one yet, mainly because it's so frustratingly hard).  ignoring the improvements in graphics, the atmosphere and ambience is so much richer, and more immersive, and the game totally makes me crap my pants.  i still have nightmares about the Cradle...

coincidentally, i started downloading deadly shadows through steam this afternoon, cause i felt like playing it.  again.  tell you what, i'll try and record a demo of this phenomenon, so you'll believe me and not think i'm crazy!  because i'm not!  crazy!  seriously, just because i killed and ate a few people up in detroit doesn't mean there's anything wrong with me...

That is true. I do love the third-person. And, I never used a breath potion. The only beef I have with Thief 3 is the health potions. I wish they were like the originals (that is, healing you slowly over time, not instantly). It would discourage wild killing sprees.

Hehe, the first one was hard. It was also pretty freaky, what with the ratmen and whatnot. Also, the Hammerite ghost guys in the Cathedral freaked me out. As for the ambience and graphics, I wish they had stuck to a more steampunk design, but it was still awesome. The fact that you could do side-missions and mug passerby was awesome. Now we just need a Thief 4, with 100% free-roaming. That'd be fantastic.

The Cradle was the freakiest mission I have ever played, in any game. Wow.

Hehe, yeah. I want to see that.

Edit: Oh yeah. One other thing I wish they had in Thief 3. His cloak! Where was the awesome cloak? Obviously, it's easier to be sneaky without it, but it would've been cool if you could wear the cloak when just wandering the city, and take it off for missions. That way, your weapons and equipment are hidden. Would've been cool!
