How long did it take you to get good?

By how long I mean how many hours play time.

I understand that "good" is extremely vague, so please bear with me. Some examples would be...

-how long was it until your aim as scout was good enough to two - three shot most classes?

-how long did it take before you could pretty much dominate a pub server? (if youre at this level)

-any other ways in which you can measure a skilled scout.

I'm just interested because so far I have 60 hours as scout and am wanting to see how I compare.

300hours

haha no just kiddingk that question is not answerable.

what you are trying to do as a scout is to pick your shots very carefully at first, and be sure you are hitting your target.  do not be stupid and do thingks like take a solider just head on.  try to learn ze maps and get around to flank the combo.

if you dont fuckz wit the enemy scoots though, you will not make your teamates pleasedd so just stick with your friend scouts on that battle front (usually opposite where your combo goes).

Well, I wouldn't call myself a pro at scout, but I can normally get a 5:1+ ratio in a pub with a few dominations a round, and I have 71 hours as scout. I'm a little under what you listed.

Depends.

If you're just a casual game player in general, you need lots of gaming experience to get very good aim.

If you played Quake for years etc, obviously you don't need as much time. Time is just a rough estimate.

I see, well the only other fps I played before this was battlefield, which doesnt require twitch aiming... So I may have quite a while to go then...

ya know what happened between those two marks? the fan came out you retard.
quit using it.

Edit: as to the OP, there's no set time, you can spend 6000 hours beating up baddies on 2fort pubs and never actually become a good scout. Scout's a lot of setting up those two-shots, it's not like the best scouts see the soldier from across the map and magically dodge there way up to them and then 3 shot them unless that soldier is fucking terrible. Scout's the same as the other classes, learn where to position yourself for opportunities and the aim will come with time. If you're hoping that if you keep playing scout like a tard long enough you'll get good enough aim to save yourself it probably won't happen. Play smart first, aim will come.

I believe I may have misunderstood the meaning of this sentence...

Are you saying that if the player chooses not to engage in combat with the enemy scouts that his teammates may regard him as less than desirable to the team? Are you suggesting that he stay close to his counterpart of the same class so as to maximize his usability?

Please do clear this up as I am quite interested in your highly regarded opinion.

9mm needs to join the forums.

just play. the more you play, the more situations you'll encounter. like snuts and chro said in the pocast, they have been playing since quake team fortress and weapons factory, and have 900 hours combined on their main classes. they have seen all the diffferent situations and know how to react. you have to do the same.
