Vista Question

How do I do this on vista?

"I've posted this before - it's helped some people, including me.

Install RCT. Do not patch.

Insert LL disc which contains Corkscrew Follies into drive. (I'm just assuming everyone has this disc. It should still work if you just have CF/AA, but you will have to patch it before the next steps.)

Click on "Start".

Click on "Help and Support" (window opens).

Click on "Fixing a problem" (near bottom of page on left side) (window opens).

Click on "Application and Software Problems" (near top on left side) (window opens).

Under "Fixing a Problem" (It's not the same 'fixing a problem' you clicked on before!), click on "Getting older programs to run on Windows XP" (window opens).

Start the "Program Compatibility Wizard".

Choose "Use program in CD-ROM drive".

Choose "Windows 95".

Choose "256 Colors".

Choose "640 x 480 resolution".

Choose "disable visuals".

Click "next" until program is finished and then click "finish".


RCT will start while you are in the program, but not to worry. Minimize it or exit it and finish with the Compatibility Wizard. (At this point, you just need to exit the browser.)

The Wizard tells you the above needs to be done each time you use the disc, but this isn't so. What does need to be done: each time you play, you must reinsert the disc so Autorun takes over.

Playing the game: Insert the disc. When it tells you it isn't compatible, click "continue" and wait for the Hasbro and other screen to finish. The game will flash weird colors at you as if something is wrong, but then the RCT Play screen will come up."

These steps work fine on xp but I'm trying to follow them on vista and the Help / Support menu are completely different.  Thanks if anyone can help.

Pretty sure you should just be able to right click the program, go to properties, go to the compatibility tab, and just choose which OS to mimic for the program.

but yes, I believe malhavok is right. I have gone into the program compatibility wizard before on vista, but I can't recall exactly where I found it. hmmm.

Just do what I said.  Vista made it so easy.  You can go back as far as Windows95, which is pretty impressive.

cool, ty.  if only they designed older games to run w/o disks.

No CD Crack

RCT2 is a fucking blast, despite how difficult it gets later on.

What's ironic is that we were talking about it in Vent the other day.

RCT3 was a disappointment.

yeah, I like RCT1 but RCT2 is like RCT1 with some tweaks and more options.  I found the time twister CD but I can't find the other two. :|

RCT3 lags, (1 fps at night... /shudder) everything looks blocky unless you zoom in and I've never gotten a roller coaster train 100% full.  slow people.

oops, didn't know I was logged in as cold.

Best roller coaster in terms of profit; four of those starting station things, a loop leaning to one direction, another loop leaning the other way, and steep slope until the cart doesn't fall off when set for rocket start full speed.
