Please realize Im a newbie, and Im sure y'all have alot more suggestions, picks, and good reasons than my 3.
My #1 pick has to be Fort. For this one reason only - because its the most recognized, played, duplicated map I know of EVER! No matter what FPS youre talking about. Its the map I feel in love with when playing TFC yrs ago, and yeah the new one's better for 2 imo.
#2 Dustbowl - 3 maps make a great game, and each control point has its own flair. Very intense and direct.
#3 Hydro - ACTION! ACTION! ACTION!

You may be a n00b, but you have good taste.
3. FISHY or IMPACT
Great custom maps. Very well designed, both have a great flow and nice visuals.
2. DUSTBOWL
A well-deserved port from Team Fortress Classic. It's definitely one of the largest, most well-designed and detailed maps we've ever seen and all three stages can work towards both sides advantages - which is rare when you're dealing with a map of these proportions.
1. 2FORT
2Fort is the greatest Team Fortress (Classic & TF2) map ever played. It's the perfect size for it's gametype, the design is simple and whatever details -are- added never get in the way. It's also a virtual showcase for all the things you can achieve with a basic ctf map (water area, multiple levels, fair sniper areas, etc.)

I absolutely love 2FORT. It's like a chess game to me because it's so important to control certain areas and the only way to break through enemy defenses is with the right 'combos'. Plus I like CTF better than CP anyway though I'm learning to like CP maps the more I play.

CP has more action, and can get chaotic. CTF is more focused and team steady. Depends on your mood which to play I guess.
I find it funny in Fort that to the right of the main respawn room is the BEST spot to put a sentry (Youre guarding the intel both entryways), but if I want more kills I bnuild it downstairs where theres obvious flaws in strategy. Go figure.

gravel pit, gravel pit, gravel pit. it's a simple objective with hardly ever any stalemates unlike hydro, well, and granary. dustbowl for that reason is great too.

3) Casbah An excellent remake from the days of TFC. Casbah wasn't always my favorite map, but they did it a lot of justice. The Source engine just made it seem clearer and more visually pretty, which in turn, made it easier to navigate.
2) Castle3 Arguably the best custom to date. It really does look like it was designed by Valve. Along with being visually pretty, it boasts an amazing set of points, each weighted properly, very much like Dustbowl.
1) Dustbowl Although almost a direct port from the original Dustbowl, a great map, they seemed to change enough things around to make it a unique experience, and catch my attention. I LOVE this map. It's fun to play now, just as it was 4 months ago in the beta.

1. Gravelpit
2. Dustbowl
3. Turbine
IMO 2fort is the worst map. It's a stalemate most of the games and turns into a frag fest. What's more, there's pretty much 1 main entrance to the enemy base (bridge) and its constantly being spammed and whatnot.

1. Dustbowl - so many things to do in one map. However, I do think the chokepoints for the first cap are rediculous. I just wish that the caps themselves were easier to defend instead of having to defend a bottleneck away from the cap. I love the sheer size of the maps, and the necessity of many of the classes on both teams.
2. Gravelpit - strategy, skill, and luck all play a part on this map. I love the difference between the points (although A needs some fine-tuning), and that the attackers have a choice of how to approach the map.
3. Warpath - I don't know why I like this map so much, but it is a great stress-reliever for me to just unwind on it for a long time in it's stalemate-happy, but drastically different areas. One wrong move, and you can be devastated in a momentum shift. It needs more pathways built in, but also includes the destructible wall, a feature so overlooked and fun.
4. Hydro - I can't hardly find this map being played anymore, and I don't understand why. Is it the brutal middle choke areas on some of the combos, or the ridiculously hard to defend last stages? Maybe everyone just burned out, but it seems like the map that would have the most longevity and variety.

3. Warpath. Haven't played it too much, but the times I did have been enough to supplant Turbine as my favorite custom. I demand this be placed in server 3.
2. Dustbowl. Demoman heaven, nuff said.
1. 2fort. Guess I just prefer capture the flag to control points.
Oh, and Gravel Pit can go to hell. I refuse to humor that map any longer.

3) Warpath. Brings back the effin memories. The more nostalgia this game gives me to when I was a kid playing TFC, the better, and this map slaps me with nostalgia.
2) Gravelpit. The concept of having different starting points for the attacks to assault was ingenious. that being said the map is weakened by the imbalances between point "A" and "B" but is still a MASSIVELY fun map.
1) Dustbowl. I can play dustbowl, and only dustbowl, for an entire day, and never get tired of it. Very few things bother me about this map. I dislike that winning CP 2 on section 2 almost ALWAYS requires the offense to a) secure the right side tunnel. b) fill up a bunch of ubers and c) blow up all the SGs while other classes dance on the point. Its the only time in this map I feel that the game is played the same way every time. Despite my nitpicking, best map available.
what ISN'T the best map available is 2fort. I love CTF games but that being said, 2fort is as obnoxious as it was in the 90's. its a whole bunch of lololol sniper/demoman spam that leads up to all parties concerned ignoring the flag, having a point racking frag fest and then deciding the victor in sudden death. SNORE! 9 times out of 10 I'll walk into a game halfway through and only one team will have 1 cap. that cap will be from a scout rush. after that the flag room is almost always ignored.
