What Should I Do in this Situation?

This is more of a general question for future reference.


What if I think of a thread topic, and search for it, and find it. But none have posted on the thread for months


If I post there, I'm necroing

But if I create a new thread, I'm ignoring the original (and people will say that)


Is this a lose-lose situation, or would it not be considered necroing?

It is a lose-lose situation.  I think the best idea would probably be to necro it.  People will get pissed, but IMO it's better to keep similar ideas together rather than to create more threads.  The no-necroing rule, I believe, only really applies to pointless necros, like necroing old threads to post a picture on it.

I think if its a genuine reply that contributes to the thread then yes. If its "I LOL'D AT THAT! or something just don't post on it

If the thread is ancient. then I would say it would be ok to make a new thread. That's what I would do personally.

It's not necro-ing if you have an actual question to ask.

I had run into this problem today. I was skimming through the threads, and I saw one thats last post was in July, but I didn't know if I should've made a new one

p.s. GMan, I thought you were gone. Did you not leave to guarentee you wouldn't lose your spot as #1 poster?
