I want to learn how to play demoman, but have shunned him from from when i first picked up the game due to his lack of 'normal' weapon eg. shotgun, pistol.
Now,everytime i play him,my stickys take too long to explode,my pipes dont hit and i end up with a K of something like 0:15.
Any tips?
Thanks

Well, theres a couple of things you should remember as demo.
I'm a pretty good demo my self.
Two regular nades will kill an engie and a sentry, even a dispenser.
Three stickies will do the same and are easier to pull off.
Remember, you can "uberjump" bu using two stickies on the ground to propel yourself higher.
When shooting regular nades, aim higher than their head at proportionate levels based on distance from the enemy so they will explode on contact.
Use the bouncing ability and stickiness of the two weapons to attack from unseen locations.
You can use the charge ability to attack from a distance, just hold down primattack.
When you run out of ammo (you will) use the bottle, it does a lot of damage and if it breaks it does more.
When ubered (reg, not kruber) remember that the best thing to do is lay the stickies while ubered and blow it as soon as u have time. destroying every fucking annoying building is possible with this.
When not ubered, just strafe in and out of a wall to lay stickies, sentries are slow and retarded xD.

Hope I helped.

Not true about bottle.

The bottle starts out unbroken. The first time you get a crit which contacts, it will break. That strike will do more damage than normal, of course, since it's a crit. But any subsequent non-crit hits with the broken bottle do no more damage than the unbroken bottle. Broken/not broken is just a graphical treat, it has no effect on damage.

Hitting people with pipes is nothing but practice, learning how much to lead each class. If you have bad ping then projectile weapons, especially pipes, become a lot more difficult. Sometimes I'll play using nothing but pipes for the practice (I don't do as well as normal, but it's a good way to get better).

For stickies any place on the outside of a doorway is a good ambush spot. The more creative you can get with your sticky placement, the better. Low ceilings are another good spot. For actual combat with stickies, lead them like you would with a rocket, and again it's just practice to learn how long you have to wait before you can detonate the stickies.

Last, always make sure you keep both weapons as fully reloaded as you can.

Dont bother with pipe bombs if you become great with the stickies they're all you need you get 8 of them and they seem to reload faster too

Think three steps ahead; Where is he? Where is he going? Are you close enough that he's not going to be able to change direction in time or do you need to factor that in?

If fighting them from a distance I typically just lob it at their body and blow it up soon as it hits them I can't tell you how many times someone has found out that just because they think they're at the end of the sewer tunnel in 2Fort and i'm at the sewers that they're going to reach the health in time.. thing is I can hit that health from the sewer tunnel and soon as they predictably go for it they're dead

When fighting a medic'd heavy put about four or five at his feet while leaping around like a retard I promise you he'll die before you once you get it down and the medic 9 times out of 10 will run soon as he realizes his little buddy is nothing more than little chunks

With a scout they're almost always going to try to get in your face and bat you to death just put a bunch at your feet and blow them soon as they're in range you deny them a point and force them to respawn too which is better than you just dying alone

Dont worry about a pyros air blast most of them just run around kekeing about their +50 health and nub crits on backburner same tactic as a scout blow them and yourself straight to hell if you have to altho its less likely to be a neccessaity with a pyro because most times you can just nail them with a few stickies and finish off with a pipebomb to face

Spies are easy just bottle feed them most dont even realize the revolver is one of the best weapons in game (imo)

Treat medics along the same lines as a pyro i'd say about 8 or 9 times out of 10 they'll shoot you a few times and then instead of reloading just run in to try and bonesaw you; you can typically pipebomb them easily because they'll come at you in a straight line and only a cross eyed retard could miss that....

In my personal experience demos are the easiest because most can't aim for crap so I just typically get in their face and bottle feed them not worth wasting ammo on.

Snipers? pssh... hide and then full charge+hold reload or secondary attack and then jump out and lob it across the map into their face one is usually enough to scare them off long enough for you to get in range while they're med cabneting and then they get to come back to you in an ideal range to laugh as you pipebomb them to death because hey most snipers will *still* try to snipe you and what do they do when they do that? most stand still

Not even going to bother describing engineers because they're a null factor at best to a good demoman

Soldiers... its all going to be luck there because they crit out the ass and can just stand in your face shooting at their feet or if they're at a distance you better hope you're 30 feet from the crit or it'll instakill you typically if i'm outdoors i'll sticky jump away and then take them out from range and height

I only really play demo when the final control point is at stake...

From what I have seen, demos need to be able to jump (a lot), have good aim and anticipate a player's next move well.

If you don't get good with the pipes you'll never be ever to kill as fast as someone who is. You'll also have a real rough time with scouts who get in close before you've laid stickies.

Don't want to be an ass but nearly everything omnifarious said is wrong, pipes will make you a superior demoman by far.  Stickes are easy to get the hang of, all other skill is completely based on your movement and boxing the enemy in then switching to pipes if need be.

You can say what you like all I know is I'm on top of the score list in just about every single game and my PPH is 170 at the moment even with idling my team almost always wins with me topping the score list a full 50 to 60 points ahead of anyone else in game...

But then again maybe its just luck and I have absolutely no idea how to play my class right

I obviously know what I'm talking about and if you've ever played with me you'd know it too so shushie
