After having given the game a few hours, I feel I can give it my initial impressions.

Yatzee is going to tear Alex Mercer a new asshole, but despite that I can't help loving the hell out of this game anyway.

If any of you have played Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, I can say with a straight face 'Yeah, pretty much like that.'

The story isn't going to win any awards, nor is the acting ... despite the obvious effort put into them, it's just too far fetched and cliche to be believable in any form.  Seeing the DC comics logo on a billboard in the game only adds to that impression. But the story isn't why I'm going to keep playing.

It is both a blessing and a curse that the game gives you a vast number of moves and options when going about this open world.  The downside is that this leads to an akward, crowded control scheme ... even with the mouse and keyboard, I can only imagine the situation gets worse on a console controller. However, you get to a point where the controls 'click' and start feeling intuitive, and once you hit that point, the feeling of freedom and control is liberating as you let your creativity start to mold the violence like a potter molds fleshy clay.

The gore is retardedly over the top, and the better for it, and any move you make (unless you're very careful, which isn't the point) results in absolute destruction and mahem.  Most objects are destructable in some fasion, and those that are not decal cracks, crumples or glass particle effects in an impressive fasion.   The graphics are hardly 'next-gen' but you can tell most of the work done on the engine was focused on cramming as much activity on the screen as possible without affecting the framerate ... and when you're busy tearing Times Square a new asshole ... crowd freaking out, tanks and helicopters bleeding out of the woodwork ... the game shines for it.

This isn't the next GTAIV, and is a distinctly different game from infamous ... but the Developer's claim that this game is the ultamate power fantasy wasn't a lie.  There are some issues, including the fact that it's a console port to PC, but I'm having too much damn fun to care.   If you liked Hulk:UD, this is a MUST BUY game for you.

Overall it's enjoyable, but I just got back from the mission in which they decide to strip you of all of your powers and send 6 motherfucking tanks to blow you to bits while giant, pink, naked men chase you around trying to have their way with you.

The scary thing is that he's NOT making this shit up, and it's still fun as hell.

Remember that Incredible Hulk game?

It's like that. A lot like that, but you're smaller than the Hulk, you can glide through the air, and you don't get stunlocked by ghey ass missiles as much.

Also you don't really notice how fast your health chips away when you're in the thick of it. I began to make a habit out of goomba stomping six or seven soldiers and gobbling up their health when fighting hunters.

I really enjoy this game. One thing is the difficulty level likes to fluctuate like a bitch. One minute you're tearing up strike teams with no problem, the next you're getting your ass handed to you by really tuff bosses. Overall though, I have had a lot of fun playing this game.

Yeah, while the graphics are nothing to write home about I don't think I EVER had as much fun in GTA4 as I am in prototype. Just even the simple joy of going into an infected zone and slicing up entire crowds of zombies with the whip fist is hours of fun.

The controls do take alot of getting used to, especially on the PC (damn overlay kept coming up when I played it though steam) but as said before, once you get used to them you find yourself jumping off buildings and in mid fall targeting and kicking a helicopter out of the air, then swapping to whip fist and shooting down a UAV and transforming into hammerfist mode all before you touch the ground. Though the fact that the game goes into slow motion in the power and targeting screens (which by the way, is an awesome feature) does help that quite a bit.

Well worth the purchase.
