When will the TF2 source be released?

I read the steam news about the TF2 SDK being released soon, but it only mentioned map mapking tools, will they release the source aswell so we can create mods? If so, anyone know when?

All they said was they would release the map stuff first.  Then the game SDK.  And then server-side SDK.

How all these are different?  I have no idea.

I hate to be even more pedantic, but the SDK is as you say a kit for development, the source code, that I am talking about, isn't the source of the engine. They won't release the engine code, I know. I'm looking for the source code to the client and server modules.

I couldn't care less about the SDK in itself, I've got my own tools. I only want the client/server module source.

they wont release the game code while they can make money off it.  it just wont happen.  the only way to get the game code, is if you find the hex key that they used to encrypt the client.dll and server.dll .  People have done it, both for TF2 and DoDs (most likely CSS as well).  But valve WILL NOT release the source code for a game... because then it would be Open sourced, as well as FREE (if everyone had the source, they could just compile it them selves, and distribute that, which would be able to be used online
