I've narrowed it down to 2.. I mainly play TF2 but also dabble in other first person shooters

These two (mini reviews here):

The g15 looks to be the most interesting.. not sure if it's worth it

ideas?

Well, first, do you use a lot of keyboard binds (like you would in MMO's), or do you just use the basic binds (like movement, jumping, crouching, etc)?

If you are the former, I'm not sure I can help you too much. A keyboard to me is a keyboard, and there's little variation between them, aside from how long they'll last.

IMO, if you're the former, go for the G15. If you're like me, i.e. the latter, pick the Steel. The G15 would be a bit too much if you just play games like TF2.

I'd go with the second one but wouldn't want to spend 99 bucks on a keyboard.
Oh wait it's dollars, nvm.

So at similar prices you've chosen 1) a relatively silent keyboard with back-lit keys, media controls, macro keys, and a LCD that can be used to display handy information such as computer temps and loads and a ton of other stuff which could be handy if you're a hardcore nerd ........ then 2) a much louder mechanical keyboard with media controls built into the F-keys (YUCK!) and the 6Gv2 does not have the built in audio passthroughs, and isn't bundled with a wrist rest as the Steelseries 7G has.
Well I dunno. What do YOU want. Would you use the extra features of the G15 or would you prefer a solid clicky-clack board?

Go with the seteelseries. I use a Razer Tarantula, which is similar but with less robust keys and more bling. I would've bought the 7G had it existed then.

So then they're similar by both being keyboards...?

Read that.
Mechanical Keyboards > Logitech junk for all aspects unless you want to macro keys and/or the display. You can make your own macro keys with software anyways.
I'm currently using the traditional IBM Model M which cost me ~25USD off of eBay. If you're willing to spend into the hundreds though, my best advice is this:
NKRO means absolutely no ghosting, and IMO, brown switches are the best for general use. They have no click sound but give tactile feedback. A lot of people say black switches are best for gaming, but I don't like them. Way too stiff. You're going to have to decide for yourself though. Cherry blacks are no tactile or clicky feedback, Cherry Brown has no clicky but has tactile feedback, and Cherry blue has both tactile and clicky feedback.

All Razer and Logitech products use rubber domes, so do most mainstream keyboards. The only one I'd think some might have is the SteelSeries Gaming keyboard, which using Cherry black switches.
