I dont see many "skilled" heavies. i've heard that some guy named gurk da boy was really good.

I have over 1000 hours on team fortress2 my main is sniper with 260 some odd. but i really like the heavy and would like to get into it, but it just seems like a bullet spraying mindless class, I just want opinions from heavy mains on if they are good for scrims and such.

thanks in advance

They're not good for 6v6 most of the time, but can be amazing in 8v8. Some good heavies who play on our servers:

ChadBroChill (sometimes on as "Bitch Nasty")
NEKPED
GA'sFinest (sometimes on as "Potent African Thunder")
newman
Echo Mending
CyRuS_ThE_ViRuS

and my Heavy play has been quite strong in the past, though I'm focusing on other classes a lot at the moment.

Also, go here for a video by 4k^Riemu, a great European Heavy:

So, some basic tips to get you started:

1. Use a high mouse sensitivity. You should be able to turn with a flick.
2. Use Sasha and the shotgun, don't bother with the unlockables except maybe KGB.
3. Don't rev your gun while walking. Jump in a given direction and then begin to rev as you leave the ground.
4. Don't push out too far - always stay with your team.
5. Don't be afraid to run away - good heavies run away a lot.
6. Protect your medic.
7. No, seriously, dude. Protect your medic.
8. A Heavy is a natural team leader. Teammates want to be around you for protection. If you are good at map tactics, you can herd a team along with you.

To add to Cascade, you should be prepared to rely on your teammate a lot more than you expect. As most heavies from the get go think they're invincible, even without a medic. Just remember, most classes will die to you in close-combat.

And to add to that, BE CAREFUL.

Seriously take it from the failest of fail heavy's, you can die....REALLY EASY....most classes out there can counter you and take you out pretty fast, but if your smart about it everything can go the opposite way and you will rape...everyone....
