Widescreen?

Whenever I try to put TF2 into Widescreen, it wont let me. I've tried hitting okay and apply, doing it in different servers, on the main menu, and restarting the game after I have hit apply. And yes, I have a widescreen monitor. Any idea what could be the problem?

edit: I have also tried :9 and :10 if that was anyones suggestion

Try putting your monitor's resolution into the command line.

Right click TF2 from your Steam Games list and select "Properties".  Go to "Set Launch Options..." and put the following in:

- w 1920 -h 1200

Replace 1920 with your monitor's pixel width and 1200 with its pixel height.  This will force the game to display at that resolution.

Also, as an added tip, you can add -novid to get rid of the annoying Valve intro image and music.  If you want to display in windowed mode, add -windowed.

Where do I find my pixel dimensions? I did get -novid to work, though. Thanks

p.s. Will -novid work in L4D, and if so, will it also skip the intro movie?

Right click on your desktop, go to properties and then settings.  It will show you what your monitor resolution is.
