X-COM: UFO Defense (TF2F Style!)

Inspired by this thread in another forum, I decided not only to buy X-Com, but to do it TF2F style. Thus, I require YOU to sign up, and help defend the Earth from the alien menace!

Who those of you who've never heard of X-Com, it's an old school game with a simple premise - aliens are invading Earth. The UN has formed the top secret Extraterrestrial Combat Unit, or X-Com, to fight the alien which means it's your job to beat the shit out of ET. So, we're going to shoot their saucers out of the sky, blow the crap out of anything in the ship, and loot them for everything they've got.

So, we're starting off in Chicago, and we need a name for our first base. Suggestions are welcomed. We're also looking for people willing to fight FOR HUMANITY!

The following "classes" are available:
Cannon Fodder: You get guns. You might get nades. You even get first dibs on armour. But guess who's the sorry bastard that has to run up to ET with a taser?
HW: You get to lug around the big badass guns. You get to shoot rockets. You're also prone to shoot the rocket two feet in front of you and blow yourself up.
Marksmen: You get to hide in a corner, snipe ineffectively at aliens, and then get a grenade thrown at you.

Of course, we need other people too. We also need two pilots to shoot down those aliens, a head scientist, and someone to tortu...er, interrogate the aliens. One lucky SOB will get to sit at the base, drive the HWP tanks, and get drunk. Not necessarily in that order.

So, who wants to fight?

I definitely want to be cannon fodder, but only if I'm perpetually reborn. Those guys were the best in that game. Good ol' rooks.

BTW kwogger, you Xcom newb, don't ever buy tanks in that game. 1 tank takes up the same space as 4 rookies but costs waaay more. You're better off using rookies as cannon fodder/scouts. If they get iced it's no big loss, you can cover more ground in battles, and you may get lucky and end up with usable soldiers. Tanks are way overpriced for how good they are, especially shitty ground pounder tanks (instead of hovers).

Cyn: Tanks are good for scouting out enemies initially, but more to the point, it's more fun with an irritated, drunken tank driver! And in the interest of fun, I'm not making a beeline for armour and Heavy Plasmas either. Makes the game far less epic =P.

Elhehir - pick a job damn it!

Oh, and yes, every broken corpse will be dragged back home, and we'll patch you up. Not guaranteed to be in the same condition as before though.
