boosting framerate?

no matter what i do my framerate doesn't seem to raise much over 10 fps.

what do you guys recommend so i can actually PLAY.

Hm, posting your PC stats would help.   ex: CPU, Video Card, RAM
If you're only getting 10fps you may need to upgrade, but we'll wait to confirm that till you post your info.

One thing you can do is this:
Try forcing DirectX 8 with launch command -dxlevel 81 or -dxlevel 80 [only after you try 81]
Right-click Team Fortress 2 in the game list and hit Properties, then click the LAUNCH OPTIONS button found at the middle of the window, paste in the code above.

does that boost the fps by a lot? and whats teh difference between nbetter qualtiy in direct x 9?

I noticed a nice increase in FPS using -dxlevel 80, without sacrificing too much eye candy. Then again, I didn't have most of the eye candy turned on or up in the first place. My computer is decent, but definitely aging (athlon 2600xp, radeon 9800 pro).

If you're getting 10 fps, definitely use -dxlevel 80 and turn down all the details you can stand.

i just used both and all it did was make my framerate really eratic from like 4-15 then back which was worse then just 10.

i'm running vista, so anyone else have tips?

It sounds like you're running on integrated graphics or something, can you post your specs?

if you have an extra xp disc or serial code you could try to dual boot xp and on your computer, feel sad for you no wonder ur frame rates suck.

and I tried dual booting XP and Vista a while ago but it tool like 20 minutes on teh swap between them so it wasn't worth the trouble.

No mention of graphics card, my bet's on Integrated which isn't gonna cut it.

Regular DXLEVEL  is  95  .
