This is the first map i have ever made, so please bear with me .

The idea behind this map was that we need some VERTICAL action. So many maps are just flat "ehemehemhefastlane" and i think that a bit of vertical play would be fun. Now I wanted to make this map accessible to all classes so somethings may seem a bit odd at first.

Before I get to the actual map itself, i'll tell you the story behind it.

RED has stolen some of BLU's cargo and taken it to a location. BLU is now trying to get back their cargo, while RED wants to keep it and sell it for money.

From the back story you can see this map is gonna be attack/defend. There will be 3 points however you must cap the points in order, which would be A, B, then C. I have already gotten the first point almost finished, and i'll show you guys some screenies.



1 screen, showing the layout and some crappy displacement work . I'd like some critic. The map is meant for smaller games like 6vs6 and 8vs8. Right now i only have the first point done the second and third will probably be inside the red base.

Can you give me an idea of the proportions of the map? I mean, it looks small (real small, say only about 20 people could fit side to side) but that is probably wrong.

Any chance of a view from the ground?

it's meant for 6 VS 8 VS 8 and 9 VS 9 could work as well. It's about as big as goldrushes first half (up to the sniper house) but keep in mind this is before even the alpha release so yea.

Seems like our maps in progress share the same basic ideals Vertical attack + defend action map. Best of luck with the map, the TF community really needs something else than flat, horizontal maps!

As for critic, you can't expect to get good criticism out from one pic like that. Only thing I see there is the CP, and some places where only soldiers / demomen / scouts can reach. Therefore, I can't give you any constructive criticism, with the exception of saying "keep going, and remember that every class should feel comfortable in at least one place of the battlefield around the CP."

You should make the map more complete, for example one fully constructed CP area before posting

Keep it up! As far as size of the points goes, a good goal would be roughly the size of the areas in gravelpit.
