Another incarnation of a map that I released a while ago. For anyone that remembers b4, then you'll notice that the insides of the bases have changed very little, while the outside is now much smaller and really quite different. After a quick run around on it with some other people, I'm confident that the inside and outsude are now much better suited to each other in terms of size. The extra routes that have been added should also help cause fewer stalemates, so I'm a lot happier with this build than the previous.

I know that there's a part of the skybox that looks odd (not the stars, they're meant to be like that ), and a few props that are either non-solid or start to disappear too soon. Any problems other than those I'd be glad to hear about.

cheers.

Hey fishy - I played your map in our last CTF night (albeit B7) and wanted to leave some comments for you. Overall, this is one of the stronger CTF maps I've played.

+ Flag room has vertical aspects to it. Approaches lead from multiple areas and have different routes to it. This is something other CTF mappers should note.

+ Map is has a night time setting, cooling the brown textures of TF2, but is still well-lit enough to see clearly and not impact combat.

+ Overall art is varied and attractive.

+ Yard has interesting terrain layout with plenty of ways to enter and exit.

- Health not available in the bases (would help for pub play, where medics aren't always present).

- Building route color schemes are confusing. Red building leads to blue base, vice-versa.

I loved this map in the CTF night. Only flaw i can see is the aforementioned color coding of the buildings... just switch them around.

Cheers guys, but the colour schemes for the buildings would still be strange, maybe even more so, if I switched them araound. The way it stands now, the houses in the main yard are coloured the same as the bases that they connect to via the underground area.  The only way that they connect to the opposite colour is when you jump out one of their windows, go along the little canopy, and jump up to the other teams battlements. So it leads to it, but it's not connected to it as such.
I know that they look a little odd being so close to the opposite base, but that's where they fell into place. The only real alternative would be to make them both neutral colours, but I think that would just add to any confusion.

For health, there's a small medkit at one end of the battlements that's handy for demos and soldiers that jump up there. There's also a mrdium kit in the house that other players might use as a route to the battlements. There's another medium in the approach to the intel below ground,so most people should be able to get into the opposite base with a fair amount of health.  The only other place that I can think of adding any without encouraging people to base camp, would be in the wooden shed at the other end of the battlements. It's probably a good idea to put one there anyway, so that players who have piped/rocketed up there can head for either entrance, and still get the same small HP boost.

http://www.guildy.co.uk/fishy_b9.htm is the link to the latest version. I've no idea exactly what changes have been made over the b7 version, or even what happened to b8, so I won't start a new thread.
