(Thanks chuckles and redbull for getting this here )

ctf_house_b2 is the 2nd beta of a 1-flag, attack/defend ctf map, based on a real house

DOWNLOAD HERE:  http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HTOMB0SG  or....
FPSBANANA HERE:  http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/63686

After my big hiatus from everything for a few different reasons, various summer programs and such, I finally returned to TF2F and shortly after I returned to my beloved Source SDK  and have finally been able to get an update for ctf_house.  Yes, I've been working on this on and off for a long time, but now that I've had time and am playing with a new map idea, I think this thing is nearly done.  I will be cleaning up the edges of the skybox, but as of now what's really missing is some playtime to check for balance and playability and such.  This update is much changed, with some new textures, a better looking skybox, fixed spawns, a slight modification in the control point (there is now a dedicated section in the bard for this), and more arrows to help improve navigability.  I've had some problems uploading my map here, so I have it on megaupload for now and will be adding it to fpsbanana in the near future.  Please check this out and give me feedback and I'm sure you'll agree that this is much improved over all previous versions and hope you like it!  Here are some screenies (hope I did this right...):img397/135/ctfhouseb20004du2.jpgimg375/552/ctfhouseb20001ed7.jpgimg520/4842/ctfhouseb20003pd1.jpgimg164/9790/ctfhouseb20000vu1.jpg

Signs over resupply room for blu

More trees randomly, not in a straight line.

More places to hide in the open field, rocks, sheds, ect.

wider door ways

I do like the map and the concept, although yes more can be done to make it just that much cooler.

For one, you can't get the intel out of the House other than through the garage basement. While this isn't especially difficult, it would be cool to place a Capture point outside of the House that the attacking team can take control of to open more exits for them to cap with. This will give you incentive to add more cover and props outside of the house, as well as more entrances into the house itself or to get on top of buildings.

I didn't notice many clipping issues while inside the house, which is nice considering it is a cramped space. While I feel bad saying it the House is just too small to placate the entire battle in. This is why I think you should make the incentive of battle to protect or attack a CP outside of the House, while then the inside of the house will be mostly empty except for priority classes like Spy who want to get behind Spawn or make a grab for the Intel.

Make the inside of the house brighter--sometimes it's hard to see classes walking around until it's too late. A lot of spaces are also still open and just dying for props.\

Also, for laughs, remove the grate from the fireplace and if people are stupid enough to crouch and walk in, they are killed.

It's a nice map, and excellent for Heavy taunt kills.

To me, it seemed like the outside of the house(the grassy area) was worth nothing to control, and there was little incentive to be out there. Also, it doesn't seem the house is big enough to contain the entire battle, as Nekped said, so it should either be expanded, reducing the size of the outside, or remodeled in some way.

First off, I'll go ahead and say thanks for everyone that showed up, I got some really helpful feedback that I couldn't have gotten just by looking at it myself.  I realized that about all of the signs are solid and they shouldn't be, so some problems with getting stuck near a sign...it's the sign   I've decided I will switch red and blue, since no one seems to appreciate a good story...and I will definitely work on that outside part, either making it smaller all around, scaling the house to a bigger size, or working to implement Nekped's idea with the CP, which could really help make it a more unique map.  I'm glad to have finally played this with real people and will be working hard to get this to a much more playable, less confusing state...thanks guys!

(@ BoC, the trees in the yard are straight because that's how we planted them in our yard )
