i'm a little late on this post seeing as how i've had said mic for... 4-5 months already now.. but, i bought my headsite brand new.. and after about 1 week of it working fine for me, it decided to mess up..

you see, i can hear perfectly through the headset..
but the mic is super, super, super quiet..
i mean, the only way you could remotely hear me is if i actually put the mic IN MY MOUTH and start talking hehe..

i had it fixed for a little bit buy i reinstalled windows and lost the audio controller i was using..

basically..
i've tried new drivers..
i've looked for different audio controllers..
and i DEFINITELY have mic boost on [that's always the first thing people ask]

but it's still unbelievably quiet...

so,
since i've already done all that, i wouldn't be suprised if i can't find help..

i guess i'm just looking for someone who's had this same problem..

help anyone?

Sounds like a bad headset - what brand and where did you buy it?

I have a very similar problem to this, and I haven't figured out an answer either. I had posted a thread here in the past that didn't get a lot of attention, but I won't be able to get back on for a while, so I won't be able to solve anything and pass on the info.

For the record, my unit is an eDimensional AudioFX Pro 5+1.

it's a logitech headset and i bought it at Target  (i know..... Target)

but what seperates mine from any old crappy/faulty headset is that it was originally working fine..
it didn't have this problem right out of the box..

I got the same one, I can talk fine in vent but in-game is very quiet, (use to work fine but all of a sudden it's quiet) my clanmate (peg leg) has problems with his as well. So if anyone knows how to fix this damn problem let us know, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

yea, I have gotten so mad at my mic I'm just gonna buy a new one. The mic is crap, but the audio still sounds great.

i'm suprised so many of you guys share my problem..

i mean, i've been to website after website after website after website looking for solutions..

every one of them just says "turn mic boost on"

i already have that on, it's obviously not solving the problem..

but what really sucks is that back when i had vista for a while, my friend was messing around on my comp, and downloaded a new audio controller for me, and my mic started working again, it was working so good, that at times, it was actually too loud rather than too quiet..

like 4 days later i reinstalled XP 'cause Vista was really starting to piss me off, and since then, i haven't been able to find the same audio controller

alright guys,
i've actually fixed MY problem and my mic's  been going strong for a week now..

i don't know what sound card, or onboard sound [and mb's] you guys are using, but i have an intel mb and i was using SigmaTel Audio..

i found a new audio controller called IDT Audio.. so, if you're all out of options, give it a search on google, and feel free to download it..

when you get it, make sure you click the jack icon so that it recognizes your mic or headset as the thing that's plugged in.

and then look for your audio options, and click mic boost.. make sure it's on, and set to 40..

i'm on my laptop right now, which isn't the computer that i have IDT on, so, i might have said something wrong..
if you need better instruction or something,
just reply..

or reply if this doesn't work..
